Ramada by Wyndham Mackinaw City Waterfront

We were woken up at 3 am by a bat in our room. We had to change a room at 3 in the morning.

Ferry right next door took us under the Mighty Mac and then to Mackinac Island.

We really enjoyed our time at the Ramada, staying in the (HUGE) “lake view” Deluxe Suite for 3 nights (with king-size AND queen-size bed and sofa sleeper!) and a “lake front” room (with two queen-sized beds) for 2 nights. Both rooms were on the 3rd floor with a balcony. Although the Suite didn’t face the lake, it still had a nice 3/4 panoramic view of Lake Huron, the piers and Mackinaw Island off in the distance. The rooms were clean, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed: a large mini-fridge (nicely concealed in the cabinet), a microwave oven, an iron and ironing board and a coffee maker (with coffee and condiments). Saneika (who went by “Tricia”) was an excellent concierge, who went the extra mile by giving us a smooth transition from one room to the other. She is just a sweetheart, and I really enjoyed getting to know her!! She gave us the coupons for the BOGO breakfasts at two of the restaurants down the street, mentioning, too, that there were also granola bars by the coffee dispensers. I was aware ahead of time that there was no hot breakfast at the hotel, and four out of five days, we ate at Toast A Go-Go, a very enjoyable (and reasonably-priced with the coupon) restaurant down the street. She also gave us flyers with a number of hotels that will give Ramada guests 10% off their meal. I have noticed that some reviewers have been critical of this hotel, and they have that right and maybe it’s justified, but I also know that with every positive comment there are nine negative comments—in all areas of life. This was our first visit to Mackinaw City., and every summer that we return, we will be staying at the Ramada by Wyndham Waterfront.

The price for the room was decent. Located by the beach.

A room with a view of the parking lot. Room was dusty all around the all the trim. Property and hotel needs updated. Grout in the bathroom tile was nasty. Pool was cloudy. Didn’t use because of this. (Supposed to be a big selling point for me!). Biggest issue with the place…I feel as though I was ripped off. I was charged for 2 rooms and the property would not refund me. I only needed 1 room for myself and a friend. I explained that at the front desk when arriving but no exceptions. I will not stay here again.

The hotel was clean, the staff was so friendly and accommodating for our early arrival. This hotel is perfect right next to the ferry to Mackinac Island so we just walked right over which was super convenient.

Excellent staff!!

The staff was excellent! The front desk clerks and the maintenance man were fantastic! Very kind and professional. The bed was super comfortable.

You advertise breakfast but there was nothing but breakfast bars! I was kind of shocked to pay additional for the refrigerator items. The coffee area was pitiful and there wasn't enough sugar. Sugar should be in individual packets. The pool was cloudy and the hot tub has an orange ring around it.

I was under the impression breakfast was included and that wasn’t the case, the outside hottub was not working. The beds were very springy and uncomfortable. Parts of the room were broken. I would’ve rathered gone Somewhere else.
