Snowdonia Snug

The property was clean and well-maintained with lots of little extras like milk, sugar, coffee etc provided. There were even treats like Welsh Cakes ready for when we arrived. All in all, this is a particularly nice self-catering option if you are visiting South Snowdonia.

The door lock was very fiddly and not easy to open. Felt like a fire hazard when we were inside, as it took a while to open the door. I was disappointed by the owners response (by text) 'Just need to rock it back and forward -it has been like that for 20 years'. It was not easy to open at all.

Very well appointed, clean and cozy. The owner was very helpful and let us park at the property a few hours before the official arrival time. In fact we were able to gain access early too which was helpful. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was very roomy with a great shower.

We hadn't realised that the bedroom and sitting area was basically one room divided with a screen. This was a bit of a problem as one of us goes to bed and gets up several hours before the other. Not being able to cut out light and sound made it it difficult to watch TV/read while the other was trying to sleep. However for most people, who go to bed at the same time, this wouldn't be a problem.

Compact little snug, had absolutely everything we needed and lovely little touched of cakes left for us! The shower and bathroom were especially luxurious. Owners really good at communicating via text, which suited me, and they even gave us a weather update!

The Snug was delightful. we felt very rested after our weekend stay. very comfortable bed & pillows. great shower. brilliant location, just a short stroll into the town (we had great meals & a few good pints there), and close to lots of picturesque walks - Torrent Walk, and Precipice Walk were our choices. our hosts sent through lots of welcome information, and were very friendly, checking in with us to make sure our stay was going well.

We had a 2 night, midweek stay in the Snug which we booked at short notice (less than two weeks before). I had read all the reviews and looked at the photos and it seemed to be just what we were looking for. It was! Such a clever use of the available space, perfect for a couple. The front door opens on to a rectangular space. The living area is first with a sofa to one side and a Welsh settle and coat hooks opposite. There is a drop leaf table with two chairs for dining. A carved wooden screen effectively demarcates the sleeping area with a comfortable double bed. The kitchen and bathroom are off to the side and accessed from the bedroom area. Everything was clean and comfortable. Kind little touches like 2 pints of milk, a pack of 6 Welsh cakes and tea & coffee were very welcome. Outside there is a parking area to the side of the accommodation. A gate behind the Snug at the end of the parking area leads to an undercover area where guests can leave bikes. It leads on to a courtyard area with a table and chairs for guests which we didn’t use because of the weather, but would be lovely for coffee or wine and a good book. Although the Snug is attached to the main house we never saw our hosts. All communication was by text and started shortly before check in time with a message regarding the key. It is a very effective, non-intrusive way to pass information. Small chunks of information arrive in a timely manner after your arrival and cover things such as the heating, how to use the shower, unlocking the back gate, WiFi password etc. (The WiFi is excellent). Information about the town and local attractions is also sent this way. It replaces the traditional information book usually found in self catering studios and is better because if you have questions or something specific you want to do or see you can get the relevant information. The location is great. It is 5 minutes leisurely walk downhill into Dolgellau with its pubs, bakery, tea rooms etc.
