Hesla Farm

Great atmosphere and location. Oozing old Norwegian farm culture.

To be fair, I must state that the owner was away and their stand in didn’t know which room we were booked into or how things worked. We were given a room which was cold and the heating didn’t work. The receptionist said she would check with the owner and give us a warm room, while we went out to eat. The room we got was the room we had booked, but was still too cold as most of the heaters had not been turned on while we were out eating. We turned the heaters on and it was soon warm. In the morning we tried to take well needed hot shower, but the was hot water wasn’t even luke warm. The receptionist didn’t answer her phone or reply to an SMS when we tried to contact her. We left both smelly and dissatisfied. The free WiFi didn’t work. The TV reception was very poor. The front door was very difficult to lock and unlock An internal door needed slamming hard to get it to close. The chest of draws was an antique but on the verge of collapse if one tried to open it. The bed creaked horribly.

We were picked up from the bus station and taken to the railway station the next day. Despite the confusion caused by booking.com property description the lady owner put my daughter and I in a fantastic lodge with two double beds, a kitchen and bathroom. This was a unique experience to stay in an old building that had all the modern amenities. We needed an early breakfast and what a surprise at the spread provided of fresh produce including egg, salmon and fruit. We recommend that if you are ever in Gol you must stay here.

Lovely environment and pretty old buildings

They didn’t tell us that a party booked out 90% of the rest of the hotel area, so when they were playing loud music late at night my friend and I weren’t happy to be put in the position of the “bad/complaining guests”. They also didn’t speak any English, only Spanish and Norwegian.

Helt underbar stuga som är 400 år gamla, doch har de moderna sakerna som sattes in, fungerade einte lika bra såsom dusch, den läkte ut så hela golvet var blött.

Beautiful furnishings and antiques. True Norwegian experience. Wonderful breakfast - hand crafted breads and dishes- wonderful!!

Confusion for check in but once saw that we had to call, the host came right away.

We liked everything about our experience. Especially the hostess. We felt truly cared for. I hope we are fortunate and can visit again. It was amazing!
