"Close to UCSD"

I had a scheduled medical procedure at UC San Diego Health, and the location of this Residence Inn was perfect - only about a 10-minute drive to my appointment. The location was very quiet and overall comfortable.

My one complaint is for the sofa/sleeper in our unit. While we didn't use it to sleep on, it was extremely uncomfortable to sit on while watching TV.

"A warning to potential customers"

I can not comprehend how this hotel is rated so high. The first two nights have been the worst experience with any hotel. The first room we were in had cockroaches in the bathroom and one crawled on me when I laid down. They assigned me a second room where I ended up tripping immediately walking in due to the flooring being lifted, the door lock stopped working at night and they didn’t have anyone available to unlock it, I had my belongings and medicine in there and they said they couldn’t do anything but place me in another room for the night. This place should not be in operation and I would warn anyone to please reconsider staying here.

When we arrived, Omar was extremely gracious and helpful.

I had a booking difficulty and tried to deal with the telephone staff. The first person I spoke to was abrupt, extremely rude and hung up on me. The second person had no authorities to solve my problem, but at least was polite. We have stayed at the residence Inn several times and have noticed that the breakfast offerings have gone downhill.
