Spanish by the River - Boquete

This hostel was a pretty and quiet getaway. The communal areas were well maintained. With both hammocks and wandering squirrels, it made for a beautiful area to read a book or get some work done.

Unfortunately the communication was not great. There was a misunderstanding with which room we were supposed to stay in and the host did not make active efforts to reach out to us, mostly leaving it up to the guests themselves to resolve the situation. This notable lack of hospitality was disappointing.

Very comfortable, really nice patio area and gardens. Well stocked kitchen with decent plates and cookware.

The pillows…they suck. Dogs barking in the neighborhood. The house is small so any noise from other guests in the living room and kitchen transfers to the bedrooms easily.

On the pictures place looked like nice to relax, in reality placed in nice garden, but not so nice after all.

Rooms need some serious improvement - mold on the walls, not pleasant smell Very dirty in the common kitchen and area. Far from center. There was shortage of power during evening, maybe because of rain, but no staff to react.

We pretty much had the place to ourselves which was lovely. It’s a big property with loads of outdoor space to chill out in. The garden is beautiful and the cleaner would put out fruit from the trees for guests to have, nice touch. The cleaner was very nice & helpful, she also did our laundry for us. In general, the place was good value for money.

I found the check in very strange as there wasn’t anyone there to see us in or show us anything about how the kitchen or property worked. Guests turned up one day and we felt responsible to show them around and how things worked, it felt very odd to be doing that. The location was far out of town, we didn’t mind as we stayed in most nights but if you wanted to go into town for dinner you have to catch a taxi.

Nobody was caring about me as a guest. I arrived, and nobody was informed. And when I left, i had to run after the people, to pay the bill. The place is also at good place, because you have to take the taxi or bus to get into the village.

Nice chill courtyard, great place to unwind. It’s a little far from Boquete center but you can easily get there by bus or shared taxi for ~1USD. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean.

Very beautiful property - especially the common areas: garden, living room & kitchen. Small room but comfortable.

Richelle is a very kind and helpful manager who had great tips for tours around Boquete.

It would have been great to have a lamp and an electricity socket in the upper bed as well
