The location

The smell of the rooms and hotel, the loud AC, The staff (waiters) not really friendly, the room wasn’t really super clean, insects in the bathroom, broken window lock, hotel is very old and needs some renovation, tv was not even center to bed but rather on the side not convenient at all, they charged health care fees on bill at the restaurant….one night was really enough.

The local, staff, local flavor, and walkability make the 'La V" and great option for your SoCal adventure to La Jolla California

Great location, and very friendly and attentive staff. I would not recommend room 625 if you are a woman staying alone. The way the doors close and “locked” left a lot to be desired. I had to move from my first room due to an off putting odor and was only there for one night so didn’t want to be that guest. I would visit again, just would request not to be in that room or one with similar entrance. Colton at valet was very friendly and offered suggestions and the front desk was kind and helpful as well.

Stayed in Vintage King with total ocean view. Bed great. Bathroom small but good lighting. Block from ocean. Best Caesar salad at the Whaling Bar!! Overall lovely experience and the staff deserve the highest of accolades! Definitely will return.

We arranged for my son’s wedding reception here at La Valencia. The views were technicolor. Outside there is a reception area on their fourth floor patio. Very early California. We expected Bing Crosby and Gregory Peck to stroll by! 😎 Our reception started at 4:30 pm. We had a tabled dinner and a bar. Also a classical guitarist. Umbrellas for shade and beautiful strung lights. My eyes are filling with tears. The flowers, the table setting, the music was unbelievably beautiful. Our servers were 5 Star. Excellent. The food : equal to any New York top notch restaurant. Our guests had either Filet Mignon ( maybe these steaks were 8 ounces! ) , grilled salmon, grilled chicken or vegetarian. Appetizer: crab cakes. Perfect. Dessert: chocolate mousse. Amazing. The Catering Manager is Bobby Fader, a real pro. A big shout out for his organization, crew and friendliness. Our attendees noted later that they felt like they were treated as celebrities. 😊

We were excited about staying at LaValencia based on previous experience with historic luxury resort hotels. However… The staff was particularly rude from the reception to check out. One particular example—my husband asked what kind of bagel was provided on the lox plate and the waiter said Everything, like it says in the menu. Plus, it was a very bad bagel Next, the bathroom could not have been any smaller its door had peeling paint Be forewarned that it is a wedding factory and the events take over everything, especially the pool, where there was no space in the pool and certainly no place to sit

I love the nostalgic vibe of this hotel. The decor and ambiance is mixture of classic Hollywood while still being very modern and well maintained. The room was very clean and the amenities such as the bath robe and Keurig coffee maker was the perfect touch. I had an ocean view king room and loved awakening to the sound of the ocean waves in the morning. The pool area was also very inviting and relaxing.

La Valencia is stellar. A magical place, with a truly exceptional staff whose care, integrity, and professionalism are consistently exemplary. I travel several times a year to San Diego for work and to visit family, and this is where I always choose to stay. A boutique hotel that is like no other.
