La Valencia Hotel

La Valencia’s history is really the standout. Very 1920's the moment you walk in; older architecture, vintage details, and a kind of old‑school La Jolla charm that’s hard to find anywhere else. The views over the Cove add to it, and the whole property has this relaxed, timeless vibe. The pool and common areas keep that same character, and the staff is friendly and easy to work with. It’s just a cool, historic spot in a great location.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Valencia! Views of the coast line from the room, comfortable bed and spacious quarters made our trip unforgettable.

Had a business meeting in the La Jolla area, and La Valencia was the perfect location, not to mention the exceptional customer service and unique experience. The hotel is a historical landmark - which ties in to the unique experience for me. No TV's in the lobby bar, just people having real conversations and interacting while enjoying spectacular views. Greeted by a concierge right at entry. Cocktails and food at the end of the day were well crafted and high quality. Being an older hotel, the rooms are on the smaller size, but still comfortable and slept well. The pool looked like it was a happening scene and will hopefully have time on my next trip to unwind. Valet parking only - no self parking but service was quick and friendly by the attendants. I'll definitely be back!

Good location in downtown La Jolla

Very, very rundown

Our stay at La Valencia Hotel was wonderful from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. Check-in and check-out were quick and pleasant, and we were welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne upon arrival. The grounds were beautiful and impeccably maintained—it felt like stepping into a classic 1950s movie set. The pool area was stunning, and we loved the ocean views from the breakfast terrace. A special thank you to Colton, our bellhop, and Mark, the concierge, who were outstanding. They provided great recommendations, arranged transportation to nearby shops via golf cart, suggested local walks and kayak tours of the sea caves, and even helped secure reservations for us. Their hospitality truly made our stay exceptional.

La Valencia is a top favorite hotel of mine and this trip did not disappoint. I was in town for business and stayed through the weekend to enjoy La Jolla. While a boutique hotel, it was accommodating for business meetings and also had the amenities to relax over the weekend. Jessica was fantastic at the front desk and worked with my multiple requests and date changes. The valet staff, especially Nick, was professional and he remembered my name after the first introduction. Mike at the pool had the perfect balance of letting me enjoy my quiet time, yet also being attentive to my food/drink orders. La Valencia is a fantastic destination whether for work or pleasure. I will definitely be back!

The Entire Staff at this Hotel is so efficient, friendly, and hospitable--from the Valet to the Restaurant and Lobby bar area to the Front Desk. Gorgeous setting, Hotel, and just the best.

Michael Mele was the most amazing, outstanding professional, and courteous server that we have had in a very, very long time. He went above and beyond. Service was stellar. He gets a 10! We were here for a family dinner for our son’s 17th birthday.
