Bienville House

Check in was a mess. They sent me into room of some one else showering. All staff was great but one was so rude and not helpful. Small elevator but room was great.

This hotel is in a great location in the French Quarter, but away from the noise and hustle bustle of Bourbon Street. Comfortable room, comfortable bed, and a 12:00 check out time!

The description of the hotel on Tripadvisor states "newly renovated Bienville House Hotel. Someone needs to update that description. Trust me, it's not newly renovated. Some things about the hotel are wonderful. The staff is great. The location is excellent. The wifi works. It's an historic hotel which always makes me happy that these historic buildings are being saved and used. Despite not be newly renovated several of the not renovated things can be called shabby chic. I can deal with creaky floors and furniture with scratches and dings. I was told that the reason they didn't have daily housecleaning was because ICE had arrived in town, which was true, but when reading reviews from November they apparently started this practice before ICE hit town. But there are a lot of things that need attention NOW. The bathroom tiles are cracked and the grout is moldy. The vent fan in the bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned since it was installed.

Home away from home. Peaceful in the most of the busy NOLA life. You won't regret staying here! I've stayed here multiple times.

Pretty hard to beat the location, especially at this price point. If youre a light sleeper the street noise may wake you, but a white noise machine was enough to balance that out for us. Some may consider the rooms a bit small, but if you're spending a ton of time in your room in New Orleans youre doing it wrong. They were plenty big to use as a space to rest. Friendly staff, great location, clean rooms. Everything you could want.

It is with a heavy heart that I leave this review. My husband and I have stayed here many times and it’s always been a wonderful experience. This last trip was just sad. There’s no more love given to this beautiful historic hotel and it’s evident in everything from no more daily housekeeping to toilet paper holders falling off the wall to no more continental breakfast to the surly early morning staff. The spark in the eyes and the bounce in the lovely hotel manger’s step is gone. This hotel is associated with The Monteleone, so there is just no excuse for letting this lovely place become tired and aged.

The hotel looks much better in the pictures than reality. It shows wear and tear. Our bed frame broke and the bed collapsed when my husband sat on it. Also, the train passes the hotel every day and night multiple times and is very loud.

I have been looking forward to staying here for several years since my brother stayed here and suggested it strongly. Unfortunately many things have changed since his stay - gone is their cookie hour and their breakfast. Gone is housekeeping on some days. Despite asking for housekeeping on Saturday, I was informed they didn't do that on weekends. So why is the price more expensive on weekends? Anyway, as a titanium member of iPrefer hotels, this hotel did not hit the mark. They didn't honor an early check-in, no upgrades, and no food or beverage offering. They might as well not be a part of the program. The hotel has good bones and their bathrooms are modern and lovely. The rooms are kept nice but care-worn. The location is unbeatable. Only one front desk agent was professional and the one at night with earbuds in was so put out to grab water and coffee pods for guests. The man checking bags was so disagreeable. Forget southern hospitality. The courtyard is beautiful and the lobby is nice but small. The breakfast area needs repurposed. Would I stay here again? If management changed, certainly.

This was a nice hotel but not as good as we expected. Location was perfect, staff were friendly however… the first two days we stayed there was no morning coffee available, we asked for a room clean that never happened. It seemed this may be more of staff being short staffed than laziness as the reception staff were on the phone fielding complaints from other guests when we complained) Some areas of the hotel needed updating (eg an area on the 4th floor was blocked off by tape and a sheet of wood blocking the emergency exit) and some areas needed painting. We never went to the bar / restaurant on site but it seemed popular.

Loved the hotel perfect location, clean and friendly staff and very comfortable bed great bathroom and shower. Could walk to many attractions from this hotel. Also a block from trolley and riverwalk.
