NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY- This hotel is a party-heavy, adult-oriented environment that is completely inappropriate for families. 1) The reception area was regularly filled with a late-night club crowd and women dressed in an extremely provocative manner. I felt genuinely uncomfortable walking my children through the lobby — the atmosphere felt more like a Vegas strip hotel than Newport Beach. While I was checking in, an inappropriately dressed woman abruptly interrupted me mid-sentence to complain that she had left her key card in her room. This experience speaks volumes about the kind of individuals who frequent this establishment, which is the complete opposite of a classy atmosphere. 2) Music blasted nightly until around 10pm, making it impossible for kids to sleep. They gave no courtesy warning to guests about the party that rented out their restaurant. When I called about this, the front desk kept giving me inconsistent information- first they said the music would go until midnight, then they changed to 9pm— but it didn’t end until 10pm. 3) I was honestly concerned about the cleanliness and safety. Given the party scene and clientele, I could not shake the worry about what might be going on in the rooms before families check in. That is not a feeling you should ever have at a so-called luxury hotel, especially one charging premium rates. Everything just smelled so cheap and musky everywhere (shampoo, lotion, soap, bedsheets, towels). I was honestly misled by the Pendry’s instagram post portraying a family thinking that this was a typical 5 star family friendly hotel. Apparently even the locals know it is a clubbing destination— completely misaligned with what’s marketed online.

We had a great stay at Pendry Newport Beach. We live locally, but decided to stay last minute post holiday party. The rooms are very nice and well decorated. We had a corner suite which was perfect. The best part is they allow pets so our pup got to come too. They even had a dog bed and dishes prepared for her when we arrived.
