The room was nice.

I didn't like that the room was advertised as have breakfast included. It was not. It also advertised an indoor pool and spa. Both were (and apparently had been) out of service for some time. We were offered "free" breakfast tickets to what had been advertised as included breakfast, as compensation for no pool.

The desk clerk at check in was great. She went out of her way to solve reservation problems, We originally booked at Holiday Inn Blowing Rock but had reservations canceled less than 24 hours before our trip. They said a broken water main was the reason for cancelling our reservation, so we then rebooked in Boone. It turns out that after being told that they had a pool and hot tub, they were both not working. I would definitely not go back to Holiday Inn.

"Great location in relation to attractions and restaurants."

As we were checking in, I was disappointed to learn the pool was closed. Access was difficult if you must make a left turn into the parking lot. The driveway is right before a traffic light on a heavily traveled road. It is best to proceed to the traffic light and turn left, go down a bit and turn around, back to the light and turn right so the hotel is on your right. Plus, the driveway itself has a high crown, so you bottom out if you aren't careful.

Pool closed.
