Red Lion Hotel Kelso

When you pull into the parking lot, it appears to be exactly what you expect from a Red Lion Hotel. Orderly, clean and definitely a "value" hotel. Upon entering you are greeted with a spacious lobby leading to a dining room, to the right, a bar (that closes far too early) and to the left, the main lobby for check in/out. The staff in the evening are very polite and friendly. The lobby is spotlessly clean, appropriately lit and pleasant to the point of welcoming. The rooms were spacious enough for two guys in town for a bowling tournament. The A/C was particularly well received. I really appreciated how the mini-fridge kept our sodas ice-cold. I also have to give kudos for the fact that the television remote accesses the television's sleep function. It is attention to the little details like that which give real value to the stay. Sure, the beds were comfortable, the room was clean and the bathroom spacious enough to maneuver around in, but that should be the standard, not the exception. So, when little conveniences that seem to be nothing are available, it makes a nice stay become a pleasant or even a good stay.

I really have only two complaints about the room. The windows don't lock in the closed position and the screens on the window appear to be ready to fall off. In our room, the screen was already half falling off the window. The other is that the bathroom sink did not drain well. It took several minutes for it to do so. The last thing I would mention is a small thing really. Where the evening staff were welcoming and warm, the day staff appeared to be bored and seemed to be there only for the paycheck. I felt as if I were an inconvenience they had to put up with in order to collect that check.

The staff are more interested in talking with each other and having smoke breaks than being welcoming.

It’s “fine”. The room we got was fine for the thing we needed to do. It was wildly dated and had some spots that could be scrubbed one more time. The shower had hot water and there were plenty of towels. We didn’t get to use the pool or other amenities as we arrived super late. For a one night as part of a road trip to another spot. This worked.

The location was great! The breakfast was ok.

Red Lion was old, not clean. No elevator and did not notify us that they were painting the first floor. The 3pm check in staff were not friendly. Will not stay here again!

Good hotel for a quick stop on a cross state road trip. Conveniently located right off the freeway, restaurants all around. Friendly staff, clean rooms, great price. ~$100/night. Exactly what we needed for a place to sleep

AC worked great. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Second weekend in August and the pool was out of service, which was one of the reasons we went there. Facilities in poor shape. One working ice machine in the whole hotel. Room had no fan in bathroom, tile falling off around tub, garbage overflowing from cans. The lounge was supposed be open from 5 until 9 pm Friday and Saturday night. It was closed before 8 on Friday night. Poorly maintained.
