Astoria Riverwalk Inn

The service by Vivian at check in was very good. Also, the breakfast was very good. The breakfast seating accomodated our party of six. Marie in the dining room was working hard to keep items stocked and serve the needs of the guests. The building is older but right on the waterfront. The rooms themselves were spacious enough and were more modern than the outside of the building. We had a view of the water. The beds were comfortable.

Although it was unavoidable, there was a large group checking in for a reunion. So the check in took a while. However, Vivian at the front desk worked calmly and efficiently. She was later joined by another receptionist that sped up the process.

The only good thing about this hotel is the view and the bed was pretty comfortable.

Our 1st room (#216) was larger but didn't have a screen door and no AC & very HOT. We changed rooms to a smaller room (#221), apparently with NO bathroom fan, which was old and dirty. Now, the sun was setting and both rooms were 90+ degrees as they were facing the sunset which the very nice. But made these rooms sooooo flipping HOT. They had a stand-up fan, but it was not doing much. We went out to dinner and a walk to wait and see if the room cooled off. We got back to our 2nd room close to 10 pm, and it was still very hot in the room. Tried to open the front door to get a draft in the room, but it did NOT help much. At that point, we should have just went to another hotel that had AC, as it was not a pleasant sleep last night. The breakfast was not good either & coffee was like tea, very light. The view advertisements made up blind to the lack of AC & that this is an old hotel that is breaking down. I'm honestly surprised of the high rating this place has. It's definitely a 4/10 & 1 star due to the view & comfortable bed but who can sleep in that heat.

Room on the river. View was amazing! One of the better hotel breakfasts. Coffee and mini frig in room.

The view was great from the room. The staff was nice and understanding.

The room was not clean though and did not feel really safe. I unfortunately wasn't able to complete my stay because of the cleaning products and my allergies.

The view was great from the balcony. The bathroom was decent. Good channels on the cable.

Stains on the carpet from one end to the other. It smelled like a dog in the room. The balcony was covered in pigeon droppings. The sink for the bathroom is located outside the bathroom at the entrance to the bathroom. Lighting was gloomy. The mattress was absolutely horrible. The chairs at the table had a staple sticking out of the upholstery that ripped my jeans.

It’s very tired. Could really use a refresher or remodel. Clearly no money has been spent to refresh this facility. Not pleasant to see mold around the shower door.
