Grand Hotel Oslo by Scandic

While the hotel and staff were absolutely lovely, the room spacious, but the bathroom was TERRIBLE. The commode was right at the start with absolutely no space between the wall and it, so much so that we kept banging our elbow on the wall everytime we had to use it! Yes, I’m sure the hotel would have changed the room if we requested, but we had already unpacked by the time we saw it. The question is why have and give a room like that to anyone in the first place? Especially in what is meant to be a 5 star hotel with that kind of pricing?

We checked into Grand Hotel Oslo for a quick staycation and loved how old-school elegance blends with up-to-date comfort. Breakfast was the star for my 13-year-old: perfectly boiled egg, crispy bacon, real-egg scrambled eggs (no powder!), “macarons for breakfast!” and every milk variety you can think of. Only the breakfast potatoes were a touch under-cooked, otherwise flawless hygiene and constant refills. Our room felt quietly luxurious: Byredo Bal d’Afrique amenities, fluffy towels, a cloud-like bed and a petite balcony overlooking a surprisingly calm city centre (the Town Hall chimes stop around 11 p.m.). The in-room coffee machine ran out of capsules but housekeeping appeared in under five minutes. Front-desk staff were equally kind, slipping a small gift to my niece—instant brownie points. We road-tested the Artesia Spa downstairs and, teen verdict: miles better than the brand-new but hectic Tøyenbadet across town—proof that true luxury is about atmosphere and service, not just pool size. All in all, a five-star night that delighted both adult and teen. Expect a full write-up soon on our little side project, Oslo Unlocked, but spoiler: we’ll be back.

We booked a suite and three rooms for two nights to enjoy our family vacation together in the Grand Hotel in Oslo. However, we have experienced such a disappointment in the hotel. For example:- 1. A dirty and ripped bathrobe. 2. No amenities in all four rooms, when asked the front desk, they replied,”We forgot”. 3. No room service menus, they said we forgot! 4. When asked the concierge about the theme park “Tusenfryd”, she replied, Google it. 5. We asked just for a drink from room service before 22:00, they refused!! 6. We asked for a late check-out, they said we will do our best and will tell you for sure later when we did not heard any thing we were sure we have until 2pm, but surprisingly at time of the normal check-out they said leave now or pay extra. Overall for such a highly rated and recommended hotel, we will never go back or recommend this to any of our extended family or friends, We would however like to thank one employee, Viktor, who worked at the front desk for his excellent service and courtesy.

A bit dated but fine

Grand Hotel was stunning. Such obliging and friendly staff. Bed so comfy. Breakfast was extensive and our dinner at the Grand Cafe very enjoyable and don’t let the name deceive you. Level 8 roof top drinks, providing a spectacular view, were perfect after a day of walking and staff were helpful with cocktail selection. Hotel Grand is very centrally located.

A stately hotel in the heart of Oslo, within walking distance of two train stations. Near restaurants, shopping, museums, Aker Brygge and a short bus ride to Vigeland Park. A beautiful rooftop Bar ("Eight") is open Wed.-Sat. Beautiful lobby and bar; wonderful buffet breakfast. Wine cellar open in cooler months. In warmer months, a sidewalk cafe is great for people watching. Rooms are nicely equipped; double sinks in the bathroom (shower only). Very few English stations on television. Helpful concierge. Umbrellas available. Courtyard views are not beautiful but you'll have quiet. An elegant stay while in Oslo.a

The Grand Hotel is a very nice upscale hotel in the center of Oslo - convenient to restaurants, pubs & sights. The hotel restaurant - Palmen - is very good. The room was comfortable.

One of the most beautiful and grand hotels in Oslo, Norway. We had disembarked from our Cruise Ship and was brought to the Grand Hotel Oslo for our two night stay before returning home. This is elegance at its best. The staff were very professional and very friendly and helpful throughout our stay at the hotel. They gave us an amazing room with a balcony. We had lunch in the restaurant in the hotel and room service for breakfast. The meals were all delicious and very feeling. We used the spa that is top notch. Very friendly staff in the spa too. We felt very welcomed. The concierge was extremely helpful as our rooms were not ready until 4:00pm so they kindly took all our luggage and stored it until we could get our room. The outside and inside of the hotel is grand and beautifully decorated. It’s located in the best part of Oslo. Center to everything. We walked and enjoyed every moment of this gorgeous city. Norway does it right. Norway is a place to travel too and should be on your bucket list!

The hotel has great breakfast in very nice Grand Caffe. Location of the hotel in the city Centre and all main attractions are within 15 minutes walk. Staff is indeed friendly especial the guy who helped us with luggage on the first day and with other stuff. Unfortunately rooms or at least our room is not of special quality.

Staff are rude and unhelpful.
