Hotel Playa Manglares Isla Baru

Olga, her family and staff were unbelievable kind and helpful. I was very sick when I arrived and Olga personally brought me medicine in my room and checked in on me the next day. She helped with transportation and was just in general a kind person. Her staff was equally helpful (made me plain rice and water for stomach) and made my family a delicious meal. She allowed us to change our room to AC room last minute as well. The surrounding were obviously beautiful and the rooms were clean and comfortable, but this family went above and beyond to accommodate.

I wish I could have enjoyed the are more without being sick!

A wonderfully peaceful setting with great attention paid to the little details. Olga and family were super welcoming and helpful, which made our stay all the more enjoyable. Great food, simple yet comfortable rooms and with its own private beach, we cannot fault it.

Amazing small family resort, The private beach is great so nice peaceful and relaxing. Staff was very nice and helpful as well as the owners, who were very friendly and helpful. They gave as a big support and helped with to deal with local street service (taxis, boats), which is not the best.

The only disadvantage the sea at the resort is not cristal blue but brown because of the sediments from river during the rainy season. However, as said, the private beach is great so nice peaceful and relaxing. To go snoorking you need to take boat to the islands.

I love everything. It was an amazing experience. The service, the kindness of all the people. When requesting something they help immediately and are well organized. The food was fantastic, very well presented and prepared.

Olga was a fantastic host and the food was amazing. If you are traveling to Cartagena and want a quiet few days, this is a perfect place to stay. It’s such a unique experience, there’s a private beach, you have family style meals with other guests and Olga coordinated our transport for us which took off stress.

We stayed when it was quite hot out and there wasn’t AC but plenty of fans too keep us cool at night. We loved it and will definitely be back but be aware if you’re not someone who does well with heat and/or are going when it’s very hot.

The most I liked is a place really secluded and quiete. All clean, all nice. Host setup for us everything we needed. Beautiful location. Very very relaxing. So incredible.

I read great reviews about this place and booked directly on their website. The currency looked wonky - COP240 rather than (I presumed) the US$240 it should've been (indeed the confirmation email I received said US$240). Communicated directly over email about transfer after the booking was made. Days before my trip I suddenly got an automated cancellation email. I emailed them directly and was told that there was a glitch on their website and they'd undercharged me and so they'd just gone ahead and cancelled my booking and to go ahead and try and book again and they'd offer me 10% off (presuming the room was still available this close to the travel dates). I was not very happy that I was being treated like this when it was a problem at their end. They then ignored my emails for four days before sending an apology email finally offering the room at the price listed in my confirmation email. By that point I had long since had to make alternate arrangements as it was only a couple of days before the booking and I said no. They responded "We thank you for your understanding." No I don't understand - their error meant they cancelled my reservation days out without contacting me first and the resolution was that I could try to rebook at a price I had never seen before, if still available! Glad others have had wonderful experiences, but I'd honestly triple check your reservation and hope there are no mistakes at their end.
