Hotel Playa Manglares Isla Baru

Beautiful place where you can definitely unplug and recharge energies. Olga and the staff were friendly, professional and extremely helpful with our requests. Delicious meals prepared with local ingredients so our experience allowed us to enjoy the Colombian cuisine to the fullest. It’s worth to highlight that the arrangement coordinated with the hotel for our transportation from and to Cartagena has been great. Jhony is an excellent driver, very knowledgeable and respectful so we felt safe going to Playa Manglares and returning to Cartagena. It’s a beautiful place, a gem that we are so happy to have chosen for our stay while visiting Colombia. Tour to nearby islands and other activities are also facilitated if you ask for recommendations as Olga has been very welcoming.

Nicest people, delicious cocktails & food, a very relaxed environment. Outdoor shower epic view (we stayed on top floor). Felt very safe and no one was haranguing you, except to ask you what you want to eat or drink :) Definite highlight was going Nena Beach Club at Playa Blanca at about 4pm for sunset, which was gorgeous.

Though clearly articulated upfront that no AC in the room, temperatures was much higher than anticipated - fan thermostats indicated temp was 36 C, plus humidity it felt more like 40C, so I’d strongly suggest aiming for the 1 room that does have AC. Felt a little stranded as Ubers not available and nothing within walking distance, but transfers can be arranged with adequate (minimum 1 hour) notice.

The moment you get to the hotel you feel the love and hard work the owners have put into it. My friend and I felt absolutely relaxed and happy during our stay at Manglares. It is probably one of the quietest places to stay in the otherwise noisy Baru area. The food is absolutely delicious - we didn’t want to eat outside the hotel even the days we went for an excursions. They have options for everyone - loads of veggie and vegan dishes. The bed was extremely comfortable and even though we stayed at a room without AC the fans were very good and kept the heat away. I’d recommend everyone that enjoys peace and a personal touch to stay at Manglares. If you do, please spend some time chatting with Olga and Marcelo to learn about their amazing life’s. I highly recommend plays manglares to anyone going to Cartagena. We only spent one night here and 3 in the city. I should have spent 3 nights here and one in the city. The property is beautiful , you have a private beach, and the staff are so friendly and the food was great! I was traveling with 3 other girls and felt super safe here. We took a boat tour from Cartagena but I would have preferred to stay at playa manglares as they will book a boat tour right from their private beach.

My son, his girlfriend and I just had 2 nights in Isla Baru but we picked the perfect place, staying at Playa Manglares. Safe, awesome vibe, good food, rustic and exotic accommodations on the water, private beach, helpful host. Paco arranged our transportation to the bird sanctuary, our boat & snorkelling tour of the islands and the ride back to Cartagena airport. Everything was smooth and chill especially outdoor dining. Loved it.

Good rooms, large and comfortable. Great food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beach is good, fabulous location, good sunsets. The National Aviary is close and worth a visit.

The visit was fantastic! I'd definitely recommend this hotel. The location was great and a super fun experience. The staff was excellent and very attentive. It was a bit hot during sleep, however, fans were provided. The rooms only have shutters but the bug nets seemed to work well. Our kids loved the beach, the food, and the hotel in general.

Everything was good! Definitely bring some bug spray for the beach area!
