Good hotel and facilities just a little far from the town

Check in could be improved, nobody at reception for 10 mins and the woman wasn’t particularly welcoming or friendly. Room was lovely and spacious as was private bathroom. Beds comfortable and linen was fresh. Breakfast was of disappointing quality.

The Amble Inn was very comfortable and dog friendly - however, there were no signs to advise where dogs were allowed to go in the restaurant area so needless to say my dog & I were asked to move! There should be a sign to let customers know! Breakfast choice was good but luke warm. The toaster was not user friendly. The choice at dinner was good but didn't taste anything like I was expecting - Venison Moussaka - which was smothered in so much tomato paste one couldn't taste anything but. The salad was described as tomato & red onion with balsamic dressing - there were no red onions and the dressing was not balsamic. I advised the waitress...... The mussels were extremely good so I had those twice. (3 night stay) Sticky toffee pudding was dry. Friendly and efficient staff.

Overall a good base for exploring this part of Northumberland.

Had trouble finding the hotel, sat nav didn’t recognise post code but once we found it all was good. We had a one night stay, the room was clean, comfortable and warm. The food in the pub was delicious, breakfast was very good.

Staff were amazing - worked very hard. However queuing up to order a drink behind everyone else also ordering food at the bar was a bit of a bind. Room very comfortable and it’s just about the only hotel I’ve stayed in where - when attaching soap dispensers to the wall - put them within reach for someone actually having a bath! Partridge goujons with Cumberland sauce to die for, so will be returning again if only for those !

The only thing is you want a central main light in the room
