Gilmore Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

The Gilmore is a very old but well kept up hotel in downtown Ketchikan. Can’t beat the location- right on the Main Street. Quiet. My room didn’t have a great view but the great location was so good!! Staff was very nice. They paid for taxi to and from the airport ferry!! Restaurant Annabelle’s was next door and had good food!!

It’s a great location and a very friendly staff. Wifi worked really well too. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Bathroom was a little cramped and not well ventilated, but all was clean and functioned well. Annabelle’s (the attached restaurant) had a great selection of food.

The property is conveniently located and well priced. But there are limitations. The WiFi would only work if you cracked the room door open. Though the front desk said it was a courtesy upgrade to give me a tub, there wasn’t adequate hot water to fill it. My dream of a hot bath in Alaska never happened. The staff was responsive, but often wasn’t able to resolve the above issues. Part of the charm of an historic property. The restaurant downstairs pops their back door open obviously to vent deep far fryer fumes into the lobby. The carpet on the stairs shows a bit of tackiness due to that. The maid apologized she wasn’t able to clean my room one day. She was short handed. The television in the room was small and needed to be programmed to fill the entire screen. No roller shades on the windows facing the street, so it was either blackout or give the street a show. Would I stay here again? Probably not. But somehow I feel for the staff who seems to be struggling against an aging property and perhaps management limitations. I’m not angry, just disappointed that with a few changes to this old diamond in the rough could perhaps make it shine again.

This place is wonderful. The decor is right up my alley...the adjoining restaurant is Fabulous...right clam chowder and Mary is the best. Wouldn't change a thing

character and staff excellent

We loved the Gilmore! The history, the location, the cozy beds, and the great hard working staff. Hats off to Jim at the front desk, he was so sweet to us and helped us get around and shop for local fish. It was a fun outing, thanks to Jim! And because of Jim my family will enjoy fish from Alaska when we get home.

Older hotel that has been nicely updated

The rooms were very comfortable. Hotel staff very helpful. It was nice to have a shuttle service from local taxi provided by hotel

Location was great! Close to restaurants, shops, and sights. Free shuttle to/from airport/ferry. Room was clean and smelled nice. Staff was very friendly. Didn’t have hot water one day and fixtures were very dated but otherwise would recommend.
