READ BEFORE YOU BOOK ⤵️⚠️ If you don’t have a 4x4 vehicle or aren’t an experienced off-road/dune driver, be aware that there are costs not communicated before BOOKING: A shuttle from Douz costs 160 € for one night or 210 € for two nights, plus a 5 €/night parking fee in Douz. About the camp itself: Unlike the pictures try to convey, the camp is VERY basic. It seems an attempt was made a long time ago to give it some aesthetic, but now everything looks worn out, stained, dirty, and damaged. We’ve stayed at numerous desert camps around the world (from basic to luxurious), and Camp Mars was our least favorite, and at the same time the most expensive one. In our case, it was more than 500 € for 2 nights, including dinner, transport, and parking. IT'S SIMPLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! A more appropriate price would be 1/3 of that, and only after some serious renovation work and cleaning!

"Stunning place in the desert"

9.0

Camp Mars is a must go if you wanna experience the desert and you dont have time for a big tour. The views are stunning and it is a truly unique experience. If you ask yourself how long you should stay: 1night is enough! We also did a short camel ride there which was very nice.

Before booking, it was not fully transparent to us that we needed to pay this much for the transfer. The car we got actually broke down on our way back, and our driver told us it hadn't been to the garage in a while, so that was quite dangerous with 45 degrees.

"Great camp in the middle of the desert where you feel very welcome"

8.0

Incredible place in the middle of desert. Very good dinner and camel riding in the sand - super nice! And the evening bread ritual around the fire was very beautiful. Very friendly people.

We could not leave later then 9h30 the next day. So if you stay only one night, respect the time they drive you to the camp in order to not to have your stay too short. A bit more of ligting in the tento would be useful.

"An unforgettable experience"

8.0

We liked how quiet and comfortable it was and how we could stargaze from one horizon to the other. It's a view you don't get to see that often. Food was great as well and everyone was really nice.

Some indoor activities like boardgames or cards would be appreciated when there's sandstorms happening because desert can be unpredictable.

"Good"

7.0

Very good location in the Sahara desert, with dunes in one side.

Not full information when booking the accomodation: on top of the price of the room (tent), it should be written and known in advance - before paying for the booking, not reimboursable - that you need to pay 160€ for the round trip from Douz to Camp Mars by 4-wheel drive provided by Camp Mars and that the drive tskes a little bit more than 3 hours (not 2h as it is written). For the price of the room/tent, I think they should provide: 2 towels (1 per person), basic toiletries (soap or shower gel, shampoo), at least a basic lamp with candle to have basic light inside the tent at night

"Magic Place"

10.0

We have had a great time staying at Camp Mars. The camp is in the middle of nowhere, in a remote location in the middle of giant dunes, It is really an alien place. Yet with all the comforts to enjoy a great experience. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. I 100% recommend this place, sunset and sunrise are magic !

"Exceptional"

10.0

The silence and the place offers an incredible experience to relax in the desert. The dinner is great and breakfast basic but good. Staff are very professional and welcoming. The tent was also very confortable.

I feel the price to high for what it offers. Additionally they handle your transportation which is also quite expensive. In my point of view they shouldn't profit from both stay and shuttle (they pay probably less than half to the driver). Finally, at they made a mistake and charged more but want to believe it was truly a mistake.

"Amazing location and organization"

9.0

Organization is great. Super communication. The Tent was spacious and had a hand made toilet that was absolutely usable. Food of the dinner was very good. The location of the camp is amazing, walkable distance to Tembaine mountain with huge sand dunes right next to it.

There was no light at the tent and at the showers, only in the shared toilets. The other thing that I could mention is that, for me ,some small things would really make it an even more amazing experience. For example if a bottle of water was offered, or maybe a beer or a soda could be on the price of the dinner, since you pay for the tent, transportation and dinner as well.
