No electricity, no hot water, but this is nature

A remote camp, two hours in a 4x4 from Douz. The tent was really comfortable and the evening meal delicious, and there was alcohol. wish we would have stayed extra nights

It isn’t cheap and you need to take cash as there is no facility to pay by card

A perfect and luxurious place in the sand dunes of the Tunisian desert, with a magnificent and hikable table mountain just 2 km away.

Tranquility depends on how many other travellers and children visit the camp…. our days there were quite different. And for planning and full first hand information we would recommend that transfer prices (150-200€ per car for the return trip) are given directly on the booking.com site.

The food at camp mars was amazing. I happened to be the only guest during my time there and they took extra special care of me and made sure everything was great. Camp mars is such a unique experience and a once in a lifetime kind of stay. Make the journey here and you will not regret it. You get picked up in the city of Douz and begin an epic adventure through the sand dunes for a few hours before reaching camp.

We stayed in one of the deluxe tents, which was beautifully decorated and had its own attached bathroom. Very comfortable.

The owners could do a better job of providing entertainment for their guests. There was a “sand bread” demonstration which was appreciated; more activities would justify the steep (for Tunisia) cost of staying there. Otherwise there is little to do besides short walks on the dunes. Dinner was very good; breakfast, however, was lacking in both quality and quantity.

The tents were beautiful, clean and well appointed. Having a bathroom in the text but private was really nice. Dinner was a delicious 3 course meal.

Breakfast was a disappointment. I think with a bit more care and not that much more effort it could be so much better. the Camp is gorgeous but at least in late November, there was a lack of activities. We did get to watch a bread making demonstration which was great. A few more cultural or educational options would make an overnight stay in the desert much more satisfying and worth the price.
