Mount House Hotel Apartment

This is my 2nd Visit to Sri Lanka and Mount House Hotel. Last time I stayed here I only gave it a 7/10 because I was upgraded to a new room on arrival (for free). As someone new to travelling and fairly naive, I didn't understand that the new room had long been vacant and was a bit dirty. This time the host made a special arrangement to get a longer bed with a mosquito net for me. They were also kind enough to ensure that the house keeper made sure I knew where everything was and show me around town. So far my stay has been really good. This hotel has fly screens to keep mosquitoes out. The location of this hotel is excellent. It is across the main road from Dickwella beach. It is a 5 minute walk minute from Bank of Celyon, People's Bank ATM's (both the lowest fee ATM's for foreigners) plus Cargills supermarkets and many local shops including King Coconut and fruit sellers, juice bars, coffee shops, Ayuvedtic pharmacies. It is also within walking distance of Hiriketeya beach and popular restaurants and a famous temple nearby. It's about an hour from here to the Matara / Matrisa / Weligama / Ahangama area that is also quite popular including destinations like coconut tree hill, the blow hole, 2 different Ayruvedtic spice gardens, kogala lake, the turtle sanctuary, turtle beach.

But not all windows have fly screens, many are just solid glass, which also works for keeping the mosquitoes out but doesn't let air in.

Prima locatie, dichtbij stranden en restaurants. Groot appartement erg fijn.

De ligging is wat lastig, iets moeilijk te vinden.

Abbiamo trovato capelli non nostri sul letto... Il bagno sporco, il personale è venuto subito a pulirlo. E il wifi non funzionava, nonostante ci hanno messo il router in stanza

Mandula is a great host. He communicated well to hand over the keys when we arrived and the room exceeded our expectations! The wifi is really great here and we were able to work effectively, including remote online calls.

The stay was perfect, apart from the fact there is a really small pond with overpacked and overcrowded with both small and large fish. It really made us feel sad every time we walked past it and really needs removing, it was the only thing bad about our stay!

Stayed here twice and would return without hesitation. Great location, quiet but walking distance to town and beach. Big apartments in a beautiful nature filled garden. Manjula is an excellent host.
