Naxian On The Beach - Adults Only

By far the most overrated hotel I have ever stayed at. Not worth the money and hype. The beach was lovely, but would have stayed elsewhere if I knew what the hotel was like. The timber steps outside are not in good condition, many broken with nails sticking out. The room was advertised as an ocean view but the only view we had was the bar, the spa was old and painted to fit in with the restoration of the hotel. No reception on the premises so if you need anything you will be transferred to the bar and whoever is on duty may help you. The photos advertised are not exactly what the rooms look like, the bathroom sink has no space to even place a toothbrush all of our toiletries were scattered on the floor. too many negatives.... The beach cabanas are great, but be quick as they rent many of them to other pass byers and if you're lucky you'll get one. Way too expensive for the quality!

We enjoyed our stay. Great staff and great food. Nice cabanas and sandy beach. Our room had a jacuzzi tub on the deck. As other reviews have noted, the water is not heated. I did not want to sit in cool water. Buses were convenient to go to main town or get on ferry.

Great spot on the beach with friendly staff and abundant parking.

Beautiful hotel and good service and food. My only complaint is that the hot tub/jacuzzi was really not usable because it did not heat up at all and though the weather was warm, we still did not want to go into a very COLD tub of water (which did not look completely clean).

Very quiet beachy area. Bohemian vibes with cool staff and atmosphere. Ocean is walkable from villa. Breakfast daily included with our stay and it was delicious and healthy

Lovely place to stay on the beach. Room was comfortable, view from deck was amazing, beach was perfect, and food was the best we’ve eaten in Greece. The service was attentive. You’ll need a car or taxi to see other parts of the island - which you should do!

Best thing about this hotel is that the beach is across the street. Room described "jetted tub" on our balcony, but tub was not working and controls were painted over. TV remote did not work, safe did not work, Nespresso machine in room made horrible noise when used. If you call the number listed for assistance no one answers. Definitely not luxury.

Rooms are absolutely beautiful spacious,steps from the beach. Well supplied with coffee tea and water. Robe’s provided Comfortable beds with good sheets and pillows. Lovely restaurant and food quite good. Staff has been wonderful. Consistently went out of their way to be helpful.

Firstly, nice location & spacious rooms. For us, after paying $600 / night, we expected 5* hospitality even if the hotel is only a 3*. To be clear, the hotel is a restaurant with some guest rooms at the back, there are very limited facilities. The staff were all young men that were clearly working summer jobs, they didn't care and just sat at the bar drinking coffee and smoking all day. There was zero customer service, I actually got a horrified look when I said Good Morning at one breakfast. The big downfall for us was that the hotel is advertised as Adults Only. But the restaurant and beach club (as a reminder, the only facilities at the hotel) are not adults only. The beach club is actually not even private to the hotel, so we were surrounded by children and dogs for the week. When we tried to voice our concerns, we were literally eye rolled at, and ignored over the telephone. I work in luxury travel myself and at least know now to never ever recommend this property. I will also be advising Mr & Mrs Smith to remove it from their recommendations, as it's just not up to a standard that can be recommended to anyone. There are other options on the island of Naxos for half the price with excellent reviews. I urge you to stay away.

We really wanted to like this place, and we booked it despite all of the bad reviews. I will say many of them are unwarranted: this is a nice place to stay -- even though it was really expensive in high season, but what're you gonna do? -- and the people are kind, but what's really lacking is the level of service and communication for the money you pay. First, we were assured this hotel was adults-only. We even emailed the hotel when we booked in January 2023 to confirm that it was. They guaranteed it. Yet, when we arrived, there was a small, loud child in the room next door. We immediately alerted the staff; nothing was done. We said something again upon our departure, nothing was done. We complained when we returned stateside; nothing was done and the hotel went completely radio silent. We are now a month out from our trip, and they have yet to reply even to IHG Hotels or Mr. & Mrs. Smith Hotels (who we booked through and lodged a formal complaint). They quite literally just stopped responding, which, if you read many of the other reviews for this property, looks to be a pattern. It has gotten to a point now that we've put it into the hands of our credit card company as a disputed charge for advertised services not being rendered, because absolutely no one at the property is willing to address our communications. The location is quite lovely, at the far end of Plaka, away from some of the noisier spots, but still within walking distance to many great restaurants -- and the KTEL public transit picks up almost right in front of the hotel, taking you to Naxos town within a half hour. It's true that there's no front desk, and you check in/out at the bar -- but that's not so unusual these days for boutique hotels (Moxy Hotels make a whole schtick out of it). But there's a difference here: they don't talk to each other. So, the right hand never knows what the left hand is doing. It seems that the Naxian Collection hotel in Naxos Town is the sister hotel, so they handle all corporate matters through their front desk, but no one answered the phone or email there either. We loved the little dipping pool on our balcony. Many people complain about it because it's not a hot tub, but they don't advertise it as a hot tub. It's a refreshing plunge pool with jets that was perfect after a day at the beach. So, in the end, it's really buyer beware at this spot. If you want to throw away $600/night with a screaming child next door after you're guaranteed it's an adults-only property, go for it. Just know that any complaint or expectation of service you have will fall on deaf ears. If we didn't run into these issues and actually got what we expected for the price we paid, Naxian on the Beach would probably have gotten 4 stars. But it's one star for us, and a warning to all of you to be very careful before laying down this kind of cash for this place. And, whatever you do, do not pay in cash or debit card, lest you never see that money again. Using your credit card will protect you; we're so glad we did.
