The Great Western Hotel

Quite pleasant refurbished hotel directly opposite Taunton train station so very handy for my business visit. I arrived at about 11am and went to reception to drop off my bag but there was no-one there! I had to go around to try and find someone and the cafe server suggested I just leave the bag ta reception. As I went back there someone from the hotel did attend reception but I thought this was poor. When I arrived back at the hotel after my work, there was again no-one immediately at reception - so I do think this needs addressing. Otherwise a reasonable stay, comfortable room and bed, shower OK, good breakfast cooked to order with coffee freely available. Would stay again but have someone on reception, please.

Rooms were clean and very well presented, Staff were very helpful in any assistance needed. Exellent location with ample parking on site. The train station is just across the road and plenty of restaurants and bars a short walk away.

With it being a hotel i just expected to have dinner facilities on site so after a long day working we didnt need to venture out, But they stopped serving food at 2:30pm. That being said the staff were very helpful in getting info for places to go and they allowed food to be ordered and eaten inside the hotel bar, With cutlery and plates provided. Also breakfast isnt served until 8am but a take away bag of a pastry, Fruit and a coffee was provided.

Perfect location, great breakfast, very comfortable room and the staff were super friendly and I appreciated the fact that it's a social enterprise helping young homeless people. I'd much rather put my money into a business that does good rather than helps a few people get even richer, so if I would definitely book again if in Taunton in the future.

We liked the way the hotel was decorated, using railway memorabilia as the main focus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities within the room were excellent. Proper coffee and milk. A nice change from UHT milk you usually get. We enjoyed the breakfast as well. Lots to chose from, especially for my wife who’s a vegetarian. Many thanks
