Lovely old property, with excellent restaurant and beautiful garden outside dining experiences available. Booked a suite, but the bedroom and adjoining room were very small. Discounted car parking available at public car park Napoleon. The windows of the french doors hadn't been cleaned in a long time - disappointing for a suite.

Driving up to this hotel, I thought we might have made a terrible mistake. It's on a busy road and didn't look appealing, but step inside and you're in a different world. The restaurant is elegant, the food delicious and the rooms in the annexe at the back overlooking a large, informal garden, seem a world away from the road in front. Our room on the top floor was quiet and had everything we wanted for a one night stop over.

We booked this hotel based on the reviews and were shocked to enter our shabby room. The bathroom was dated, the carpets were worn and there was a terrible smell coming in from outside meaning that we couldn't open the doors (the only means of getting ventilation into the room). The room was also extremely noisy, we heard flushing toilets and other bedroom antics all night long so not a pleasant sleep at all. We will definitely never stay here again.

This hotel was lovely. Very French. The staff could not be more helpful. The rooms were lovely in beautiful grounds. The food was superb and we chose to eat here for our entire stay. We would certsinky recommend it.

Is really pleased I chose the Royal Lieu. I arrived towards the end of the evening, but no problem - the restauarnt was still open and I had a quite superb steak - truly superbly cooked and presented. The things that differnetiate average form good hotles though is the service - I needed an iron for a shirt the next day - they didnt have one - which is a bit odd - but offered to iron my short for me if I brough tit down, which they did without any problem. it would have been easy just to shrug and say "sorry, no iron", but they wen tthe extra few yards. Breakfast was good too. Certainly would stay again (but with a travel iron).

Rooms at the Royal-Lieu are small but comfortable and with a nice park view. They are great value for money, and the restaurant is quite good. The staff in both the hotel and the restaurant are friendly. The location at the edge of town is convenient for sight-seeing in the area.

Rooms very small. Staff very personable, welcoming and warm. A fire in the fireplace in the lounge would have elevated the place.

Tres satisfaits dans l'ensemble. Le personnel est tres courtois et a l' ecoute du client. Rien a dire sur la proprete que ce soit dans les chambres ou restaurant. Tres calme bien que situe le long d'une grand route, avec acces a un parking prive et un espace arbore. Nous regrettons que la chambre standard (que nous avons occupee) soit si petite, le lit etroit (140cm) ce qui change quand on a l'habitude de 180 cm, et la salle de bain ne donnant acces qu'a une personne a la fois, vu l'etroitesse due a l'emplacement des sanitaires. La pommette de douche etait cassee et le tub de douche bouche. Un rafraichissement des sanitaires dans l'ensemble serait le bienvenu. Mais dans l'ensemble c'est tres recommendable bien que un peu surfait quant aux tarifs des chambres et du petit dejeuner. Nous n'avons pas souhaite y diner car relativement tres cher.
