Super 8 by Wyndham Atchison

It seems some A/C units & over-all upgrades would be helpful for this property. Staff was friendly & helpful. Had good rest & clean room.

I stayed three nights while visiting the Kansas City area on vacation. The experience is about what I expected from a Super 8--acceptable but not great facilities at a good price, and with an adequate breakfast included--except that the property's guest wifi was inoperable throughout my stay. Hence my laptop computer was not able to access online travel information while I was there as I had expected. I chose this property over other budget-priced Kansas City-area hotels in part because all rooms are non-smoking, which is not the case at some similar establishments. However, the parking lot, patio, and areas just outside the doors serve as de facto smoking areas, with cigarette butts littering the ground (especially in the parking lot) and the smell of tobacco smoke extending into the corridors and the room to which I was assigned, which was near a side door. A non-systematic cleanliness problem attributable to the clientele but not the hotel was that a guest evidently did not pick up their dog's feces after it defecated in the parking lot near my vehicle on the morning of my departure. I discovered that I had stepped in it while carrying or loading my luggage into the vehicle. Hence my departure was delayed while I returned to the room to try to clean up the fetid mess. Both beds in the room were relatively less comfortable than those at other budget-priced hotels at which I stayed on the same trip. Overall, though, the stay was generally acceptable, except for the wifi.

I paid for a double bed for me and my children when we went to check in they put me in a dirty room then changed us to a one bed with 3 kids

The internet connection/speed was bad and not available the last morning, When I checked in, I first hooked the computer to see if the internet worked good. It was fair at best. I contacted the front desk staff about the poor internet connection and they stated: "We just had an update and that is when the problems started. We contacted the tech company." Last year at a hotel in Tennessee, I had to switch hotels for the internet was not working correctly. It was OK. Staff was friendly.

The staff was wonderful but the room was dirty. The shower water pressure was amazing. I wish all Wyndham properties had the same water pressure that this property had.

This place is a dump. Carpet is stained. Interior is old. Building is not secure. Breakfast includes coffee and fruit.

The location is in a sketchy neighborhood, 5 minutes from the infamous Sallie house (maybe thats your thing). Staff was kind at check in but, too kind and it made us uncomfortable. The man offered to load our luggage and take it to our room but was asking questions and lingering and it just wasn't a great vibe and made my teenage girls uncomfortable even though he was helping. The sheets were dirty and had sharpie on them, the ceiling had been repaired from what looked like mold damage but wasnt repaired well. Only one channel on the tv worked. Overall a very uneasy feeling and my girls were actually asking if we could leave they felt so uncomfortable. We did stay and it worked out okay but we would avoid this place in the future.

Great stay

Clean, well kept property. Staff was friendly. Two day stay and the only bad i can say is that there was never any spoons for my cereal and for some reason our tv kept going off line. Overall a pleasant experience
