Haze and Kites Resort Munnar

On the plus side: - The staff were kind and tried their best. They have clearly not been trained to 5* standard, but that is the owners’ fault, not theirs - The location is excellent - literally perched on top of the hills of Munnar, with incredible views

I’ve been on Booking for 10+ years and I’ve never left a bad review - we’ve stayed in some 5/10 places but not wanted to review them badly because we can see that people are trying their best. But we’ve had to make an exception for this place because it’s standard is so far below what it promises. Bluntly, the hotel has some major problems, and it is nowhere near 5* standard. If they positioned themselves as 3* and priced themselves according, it would be OK (though still with room for improvement). But their whole website and slick Instagram page promotes it as “5* luxury” and we paid R14,000 a night (£140!). Even in England that would get you a very nice hotel - in the hills of India, it should get genuine luxury. If the hotel wants to get to 4* (it’s nowhere near 5*), it will need to improve in almost every area: - The pool looks great in pictures but is actually tiny and shallow - impossible to swim in it. There are also only two sun beds around the pool (for a hotel with 10+ double rooms) and no parasols/umbrellas. There’s also no chlorine in it and it didn’t feel particularly clean - The food was fine but, again, very basic and not included in the price. Breakfast is 7500 (£7.50) for cornflakes, white bread and jam. - Extra services: we asked if they could arrange a taxi for us from the airport. That’s a really standard request for any hotel, let alone a 5* one - but they refused to help us, just sending us a local number and saying “you can book direct.” Even when I asked again for help, saying we were in the uk and so on different timezones and language, they still didn’t help, saying again “book direct.” We actually left only one night into a planned 4 night stay because there was loud building work happening from 9-5/6pm every day. Given that the whole point of coming to the Munnar Hills is peace and relaxation, having loud drilling and banging all day wasn’t ideal.

Loved the view from the cottage and the cleanliness.

It's too far from the main attractions of Munnar and the restaurant is expensive.

In a beautiful spot - quite far from Munnar itself but stunning views! Very nice, helpful staff. Good food. Lovely rooms and pool.

Super friendly and helpful staff, very scenic and quiet location with fantastic views, very clean and well looked after property.

There was a mould issue in our room first but when pointing it out to the staff, we were allocated a new room right away.

The views are incredible, the pool is well kept, bonfire from 7-8PM. Staff brings fruits in the evening for breakfast and are very helpful. Our cottage was great. Smart TV so you can watch Netflix or other apps directly from the TV. Internet was good and I could put in some work when needed. Breakfast buffet was good as well and we tried many items from a la carte menu which were all great. Amazing place to relax with a perfect view. Highly recommended.

It's a little bit out of the city but totally worth it.

Amazing location and perfect place to stay. But be careful with google maps . it may lead to terrible ways. Clean and staffs were very nice.

Way to get there.. roads are narrow.
