I have stayed at the Old Cataract many times over the years, including with groups I have led through Egypt. It has always been one of the highlights of my journeys there, and I always look forward to the joy of sitting on the patio for lunch and sometimes dinner, taking in the beauty, history, and nostalgia of such a remarkable place. After the last renovation, I waited two years for the hotel to reopen, and I will gladly wait again for this new chapter to unfold. You can certainly expect me to be among your first guests when you reopen as Mandarin Oriental Old Cataract. My only prayer is that the new prices will still remain within my comfort zone so I may continue returning to a place that holds so many cherished memories for me.
