St. Louis Union Station Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

My sister has been a Hilton Team Member for over 15 years so we stay at Hilton exclusively. This is by far the worst Hilton we’ve ever stayed at… let alone that it’s supposed to be in the Curio Collection. We booked the King Standard room and when we arrived I noticed the room smelled bad. The carpet wasn’t vacuumed and there was still debris and hair in the garbage. The bathroom was the worst, there was clearly toothpaste splatter on the walls, definitely not paint. The whole room looked like it had been wiped with the same dirty rag leaving dirt everywhere. It was also facing the park area that was blaring country music and was super loud. The lady at the front desk agreed the room wasn’t cleaned and said it frustrated her as well and switched us rooms. The next room was marginally cleaner but the tv screen was broken. So again…. Back to the front desk. This time, there were 2 other women at the desk complaining of the cleanliness of their room as well. At this point it had been over an hour and the only option they gave us was a queen room or have the TV swapped. We chose the TV swap but they told us they were out of TVs and instead switched our room to a different part of the hotel. As we were leaving the front desk, another employee remarked “they’re moving rooms again?!” Which was clearly heard by us and we didn’t appreciate. The third room was one of their Executive King rooms with laminate flooring instead of carpet. It was definitely the better option of the 3 but was still not quite the standard it should have been. This room is normally over $350/night but felt really cheap. The toilet didn’t flush properly, tv was small, wifi quality was super slow, the Keurig didn’t work and the room didn’t even have actual glassware. The sound quality was the worst part. The walls are paper thin… we could hear every conversation and toilet flush. Definitely would never pay the Executive price for the quality of this room. So disappointing Hilton…. Overall, it’s clear that this hotel is poorly managed and the cleanliness and quality is definitely suffering.

This hotel is great in location only!!! For it to be rated 4 stars is shocking, baffling, and unbelievable to me. First, let's talk about the fact that hotel parking is a minimum of $45 per day, and to add insult to injury, they only give you two exit parking vouchers when you check in. You have to keep going back to the front desk and ask for more, so if you're sightseeing away from there, enjoying the city, or perhaps your stay is work-related, then it is a flat-out hassle to do so. At $45 a day, there should be a parking pass loaded to your hotel card. Second, let's talk about the fact that when you call the front desk, there is no answer. I got one answer shortly after my check-in, but then no more. I even pulled out my cellphone, called directly in, and still no answer. Glad I didn't have an emergency. Next, let's talk about the police posted at the stand in the hall outside the reception/front desk area. I asked an officer if the doors nearest the stand were an exit to the street, and he, rudely, with an attitude and his face literally turned sideways, said, "I don't know, I don't work here!" I turned away with a look of confusion, 'cause surely you know. Next, let's talk about how the business center was just a long, long, long table sitting outside the gift shop and fitness room and adjacent to the bar, with multiple signs on it telling you how to access printing from the cloud via your phone or the Internet. Plus, someone had ripped the Ethernet cord connection loose, and there was absolutely zero space for privacy. Next but not least, the remote control, the coffee maker, and the phone needed to be tossed in the trash. The phone and the remote control had some white, glossy glaze on them. Yuck! The coffee maker was so nasty that when I ran hot water through it without ever using a coffee or tea pod, the water was filled with large and medium brown debris. It even had a smell. So disgusting and disappointing. I had to take a Benadryl and sleep with a mask on because running hot water through that machine released something in the air, making it so difficult to breathe easily and not stop sneezing. I was uncomfortable all night. This is just to name a few things wrong with this "4-Star" Petri Dish. The expensive cost of convenience for the nearby attractions is not worth going home with an unexpected rash or virus. I would not recommend this place at all.

Everyone was helpful and nice

Booking.com said breakfast was included. It most definitely was not. It was one of the reasons we stayed and paid almost $2000 for 2 nights.

It was a very interesting location with a lot to do. The history tied into light shows were wonderful.

Bit pricey, not sure I would have been comfortable walking far from the hotel grounds.

The fact that they shut down all the access way during a wedding and close the restaurant for the wedding

Attended a women’s conference with friends at this hotel. Delila at the front desk is exceptional. She went above and beyond with sorting out our room reservations. She confidently resolved our concerns and made recommendations while putting our minds at ease when we were frazzled. She radiated positivity and professionalism, letting us know if we had any other concerns or questions she would gladly assist us.
