Location was excellent. I didn't have any breakfast. I had to leave very early.

Some one entered my room at 1a.m., which was a bit scaring. There was double booking, I think. He had a key.

It was very homely the food was very good

Central location. Great lively pub

We stayed on a Saturday night. There was some noise that could be heard around 1am when the pub closed.

The Ship was very centrally located - just a 5 minute walk from Chelmsford Station and similar to the town centre. Although the pub was noisy, the rooms were well sound proofed and the windows were secondary glazed too. There was free strong wifi in the rooms. The single room (No.9) was roomy and very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfy, though I'd recommended pulling the bed away from the window slightly, otherwise you can knock against the frame/sill. The bathroom was spotless and well maintained and there was plenty of hot water. It was well equipped with tea/coffee facilities, biscuits and bottled water. I ate dinner downstairs, and the chef was happy to adapt food for my intolerance. Delicious meal and very reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly and recommended me a quiet corner as I had to study. I'll definitely stay again without hesitation.

Honestly, it's hard to think of anything bad. Room 9 was 2 storeys up and no lift, so do request a lower floor if you can't manage stairs, but I was fine.
