The Occidental Lodge

I really enjoy staying here when I come to the area for school. The staff is friendly and personable, unlike a lot of places. And it has nice touches- like real glasses for drinking instead of cheap plastic ones. The town of Occidental is tranquilly situated among redwoods.

The mattresses are quite soft and non-supportive. There is no elevator or lift for luggage to the second floor, so at booking, this fact should be highlighted when a guest is booked on the second floor. Otherwise, quite nice for a modest motel, very quiet, no frills, easy booking and right in the lovely downtown of Occidental. I recommend it. One more thing, I noticed some guests with dogs but did not hear any barking or evidence of pets in my room, which I very much appreciate, keeping pets separately and in containment. Thank you!!

Firmness of mattresses.

We enjoyed our stay in the town of Occidental and the Lodge was a throw back to earlier times in that hippie town. We loved it.

Great location, Ryder is so friendly and helpful, room was spacious and bed was comfortable. We will return!

We were on a long bike ride down Hwy 1 and needed an affordable place to stay a couple of nights. Although this property was about an hour out of our way it was worth it. Very comfortable. Nothing fancy. Just what we needed.

Have tea bags available as well as coffee.

The carpet did look like it was a pet friendly room as there were possible prior stains on the carpet. Bathroom was clean and tidy. Enjoyed the fridge. Overall very nice aesthetic and good pricing.

Very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean. The only negative was that I could hear the person snoring next door.
