St George Hotel Rochester-Chatham

The bed was clean and comfortable. Really nice fluffy towels. Towels were are good size.

The rooms could do with decorating. The sink we could not use as we could not lift the plug up. Therefore sink would fill with water. Better selection of food at breakfast, it was very poor. No ambience in dinning room while having breakfast.

This is the worst place I have ever visited in my whole life. The hotel is so old dingy and unclean. I don’t think anything has has been modernised over the last 10 years. I had booked 3 nights but only stayed for the first night. I contacted them several times regarding my complaints and never heard anything back.

There was no evidence of any type of quality control or maintenance. Everything was so old. The pictures are really deceiving and it’s a shame because I’m sure many people would have booked the hotel and been extremely disappointed. The pictures are really misleading. You have to literally wonder what their spend their profits on. They definitely spent money on the bars and eating area downstairs to look nice, but no care or attention was given to rooms, the corridors, the carpets, the walls. I’m not sure how they are even still open as a hotel. If the hotel could be this unkempt, I would hate to think what the kitchen was like. I was offered breakfast as part of my booking, but no thank you, I respectfully declined. No exaggeration here, honestly the worst hotel experience I have ever been too. I.e I couldn’t believe how shamelessly old the mattress was. The mattress didn’t even have a mattress protection. It was so springy and uncomfortable. It felt like I could feel every person who has ever slept on that bed. Quite frightening.

The car park was very confusing, but I found one nearby which was cheap for 16hrs.

Location was good, not far from the highstreet and train station. Staff were friendly.

Had to be moved to another room after i alerted them that there was no hot water pressure, so was unable to have a bath or shower. The room me and my partner were moved to was bigger and we assumed to be better until we got back from a night out to find the bathroom had a horrible damp musky smell. The carpet just outside the bathroom door was also damp. We were checking out the next morning so just went to sleep and left first thing.
