Hotel St. Regis

The staff were very friendly and professional. The room was clean and quiet. The service was excellent. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quality stay and price. I really enjoyed the antique and historic characteristics of Hotel St. Regis.

The rooms are lit with bright white grotesque bulbs, so it feels like an interrogation. No ambiance. Walls are scuffed. Sun bleached streaks in the drapes. Furniture doesn't fit logically in the room. NO ARTWORK. First room, the water didn't drain out of the tub. In the second room, there was unusual TOWEL ART on the bed in the shape of the female genitalia. WHHYYYY?

I checked out an hour after I checked in. Hotel is not in good shape. First room I was given had a broken door and broken a/c system. When I went to open the curtain it sounded like I was opening a jail cell. Bare bones room. Not even artwork. Lots of dings, marks, broken bits. Toilet bowl had a brown stain and discolored water in the toilet. Second room I tried had no curtain over the window, which faced the street. Room was on the second floor. Same issues with this room in being bare bones, no artwork, lots holes in the wall, etc. Feels like a hospital or insane aslyum. There is no restaurant on site or nearby. So I'm not sure what "dining experiences" they offer.

My husband and I were scheduled to stay at the Hotel Saint Regis Detroit for 4 nights. We were excited about visiting the city to attend the NFL football game. When we parked the rental car, we saw inconsistencies between what was online and what were seeing. This was not The St. Regis Hotel Atlanta that we are very familiar with. The parking lot was not secure, there wasn’t any security, and the lobby was darker than the pictures online, the staff was accommodating. Our room was on the 6th floor. When we exited the elevator, we first noticed that there were black marks along walls and doors as if someone had pulled a cart down the hallway and scratched the walls and doors. The online descriptions said remodeled rooms, so we were hopeful. Upon entering and inspecting the room, we noticed that the floor was sticky and dirty, the tabletop was too wobbly to eat on, the room was dark, and the refrigerator had water accumulating at the bottom. Although the tile and grout did not have any molding, the shower sounded like a locomotive. It was so loud and never got warm enough for a good shower. We had the quickest shower ever and had to lay towels on the floor in the bathroom. It was an experience that I never was to experience again. After one night, we had to find other living arrangements. While I understand that low staffing can cause things to be overlooked, and the lack of attention to detail to be missed, this is unacceptable. The pictures online must be renderings of what the hotel will look like once it’s remodeled. We’ve stayed at other 3-star hotels that were clean and well maintained. I know that everyone has different price points and expectations for hotels, but if you want the Detroit experience then this is not the hotel for you. If you want somewhere to lay your head and don’t mind a less than clean room, then this is a place you should consider. Thanks for allowing us to leave early so that we could find somewhere else to stay so that we could enjoy the tastes and flavor of the city.

For advertising that all 124 rooms had been remodeled Whoa!! Very disappointing. First of all we requested a King bedroom. Got our keys and the room door was open and it was 2 Queens, Went back down and straightened it out. Our new room door lock was broken. Brian from maintenance fixed that quickly. Bathroom door lock was broken. Needed a locksmith so we just had them remove the bathroom door lock set. No valet, no concierge, no secure parking but there was still a fee to park in their lot. No help in getting our bags. Only had hot water, scalding in fact. Bathroom counter was broken and glued back together. No hand rail in shower. No fan in bathroom. Toilet VERY slow to flush Shower head plumbing was sticking out of the wall about 4 inches. No restaurant. No room service. No pool. No 24/7 front desk. Vending machines were nearly empty. Lost some $$ Need ice? Travel to the bar downstairs to get it. Guest table in room was broken. No microwave Room temperature was set and couldn't be changed. Very humid and musty Window blind was broken Adjacent room door was plywood !! We put a blanket over it so the next room couldn't see in. ANTS!!! They came out of the bathroom tiles, under the air conditioning unit and the wall between bathroom and bedroom TWICE they came up and sprayed. Never, ever would I have paid their room rates here Nor would I stay there. However, we were part of the Henry Ford Hospital hospitality rate and nothing else was available.

I didn't rate this "terrible" but I felt it was nearly that bad when I stayed at this place for one night. If I had had plans for more than a night's stay, I would have moved to a different hotel after the first night. I rated this "poor" in acknowledgement that the lobby is nice and clean. After "poor" comes "Average" and this hotel was certainly below average, especially for the rate we were charged. Want to know about why I don't think you should stay here? First, the photos on the hotel's web site do not show what the majority of the rooms in the hotel look like. The photos on the hotel web site show only the renovated rooms. OUR room was not a renovated room. The decor is cheap and depressing. The TV stand looks like it came from someone's gradparents' home. The tub had fixtures which were corroded and nasty looking like you'd find in a motel on the side of a highway in the middle of nowhere. The phone was mislabled. The nightstand the phone was on had some kind of sticky substance covering it -- the table had obviously not been cleaned. The bed was lumpy. The pillows were small. The night we stayed there was the 1st Friday of the month. They have a loud party which happens in the lobby on the 1st Friday. Being on the 3rd floor, you could hear the thumping bass from the party in the lobby which went on till well after midnight.

A friend of mine booked the room for a night and I cannot tell you how disappointed we were. While the downstairs area of the hotel and the hallway looked beautiful, the room itself was a nightmare. The furniture looked as if it was picked up on the side of the road. The plaster on the ceiling was cracked and missing pieces. The smoke detector was missing with wires exposed. There was evidence of extreme water damage on the wall adjacent to the bathroom and extensive cracked tiles in the bathroom. It was clear minimal cleaning was done in the bathroom; the grout was filthy and it looked like no one had swept or mopped under the sink ever. I stayed in a Super 8 motel in Ionia, MI for literally half the price paid to stay at this hotel and it was 10 times better. You can't beat the location, but there needs to be extensive updates made to the rooms.

Smelled horrible got to our room it was not clean and had a used condom laying on the floor. No fridge or microwave. TV remote didn’t work. Only had lamps for light. Woke up to welts up and down my thighs

This hotel was near Henry Ford so we stayed that it was terrible and gross. We found 2 cockroaches in one of our rooms and the toilet lever was broken in both of our rooms. I would get spray on the foot with toilet water everytime i flush it. There were stains on the sheets and the wood floor was sticky to my bear feet. It was gross feeling and i would never stay here again
