Fairfield Inn by Marriott Evansville West

Felt like I was in a cheap hotel. Entering through the main doors, I was hit with the smell of stale cigarette smoke. The carpets on 2nd floor hall was dirty and raised in the middle. The room needed tlc and the mattress left like it came from Temu.

The shower was amazing! The bed was extremely comfortable.

I had booked 3 rooms for us and 2 other family members for a reunion that we attended in the area. We found problems with all the rooms, some worse than the other. One room, the sink that had black countertop had white specs all over like someone had brushed their teeth and sprayed everywhere, and also had to call maintenance to fix sink clogging. Our TV didn’t work the second day. Another room the TV didn’t work at all the first day and needed someone to work on it for an hour. The worst is the third room that smelled horribly musty and disgusting. She noticed her clothes were damp at the end of the stay. She was so sweet to not complain (she’s a nun) and instead wrote a note to have the hotel check it after we leave. I wish she had told us earlier. I would never have let her stay in that room. I gave the front desk the note and they said we should have told them earlier. The musty, damp room did not happen overnight, so they should have known about it.

Reported blood on the bathroom floor upon arrival. Desk clerk apologized but never cleaned up. Tub floor peeling, tub surround dirty, black substance on wall under sink. Second time in as many stays we were awakened by the fire alarm and spent time in the parking lot. Stayed here MANY times but never again. Definitely not Marriot quality any more.

As a member of the Marriott Bonvoy family of hotels, I had higher expectations about this property than what I experienced. While the condition of the property generally is clean, there are staffing issues. Our room was not cleaned properly, even after we requested it to be done. They did the minimum, not providing additional toilet paper or removing trash. The pool is extremely small and was cloudy due to excessive chlorine. Pool towels were at a premium and I was scolded by a staff member when I suggested they put more out. The hero of this hotel is the person who puts out breakfast each morning. She is amazing and should be running the rest of the hotel. She is extremely customer-focused and worked very hard to keep food replenished. I gave this three stars because it wasn't a terrible experience, just not up to what we expected.

The facilities were clean. The staff was friendly.

The darkening curtain was falling off at the sides. The sink drain stopper did not hold water. The inside handle on the shower glass was loose. We did tell the staff these things when we left. She said she would tell maintenance. I'm sure she did.
