There are three main Marriott-branded properties in Puerto Vallarta, and after visiting a couple of them during my trip, I’m very glad I chose this one.
For context, the Sheraton nearby is a franchised property, and unfortunately, it shows. I had to call them regarding a booking issue and the experience was… let’s just say “memorable for the wrong reasons.” I also stopped by the Westin for lunch during my visit, and it is absolutely beautiful and very classy.
But I stayed at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta, and I’m happy to report it was an excellent choice.
This hotel has a great energy. There always seems to be something happening, yet it never feels chaotic. The service throughout most of the property was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. The food was also surprisingly good and exceeded my expectations.
One unexpected highlight of my stay was the coffee shop. It’s gorgeous and honestly feels like something you’d find at a JW Marriott rather than a standard Marriott property. The pastries are large, beautifully made, and clearly high quality. I grabbed a freshly squeezed orange juice from the cooler, which was absolutely delicious. Everything about the coffee shop feels premium, and stopping in there for coffee or a pastry quickly became my favorite part of the day.
The rooms have been renovated and feel fresh and modern. Bright colors pop against clean white walls, the signature Marriott bedding is as comfortable as ever, and there are outlets everywhere. Lots of lighting, great functionality, and everything feels crisp and thoughtfully designed.
The details also stood out. Plenty of fluffy towels that actually felt new, good amenities, and small touches like having separate soaps for the shower and the sink. Those little details matter, and this property clearly pays attention to them.
The beach, the grounds, the pool areas… everything is beautiful and well-kept. Overall, the property delivered exactly what I hoped for and then some. Chill, fun and sun.
My one “opportunity area” would be the front desk. The staff was all polite and pleasant, but the service there felt noticeably less polished than the rest of the hotel. It didn’t come across as rude, more like a lack of training in hospitality basics. Which is a shame, because everything else about the property operates at a five-star level. But the front desk felt like Fairfield Inn.
Still, this was a fantastic stay. I will absolutely return, and I would happily recommend this hotel to friends, family, and even my clients. The food, OMG, is delicious.
The location is excellent, right across from the Marina and very close to the airport, the property is renovated and fresh, and the overall vibe is lively, energetic, and welcoming.
And if you go, do yourself a favor and don’t skip the coffee shop. It may quietly become the best part of your day. I guarantee it!!!
