Great experience! Loved the feel, design and location of this hotel. Received nightly drink vouchers and breakfast for two for titanium Bonvoy status. Delicious meal in a beautiful setting! Great shopping and dining within easy walking distance. We enjoyed Jeni’s Ice Cream, a 3 minute walk away, both nights of our stay. Staff all had a fun and kind vibe. We hope to be back!

We spent 3 nights at The Talbott in Chicago. The hotel had been recently renovated and it is really beautiful. We checked into a large room featuring a comfortable bed and a huge high tech television. You select a button to show the cleaning staff if you are ready to have your room serviced. It is a small hotel, with a quick wait elevator. The hotel restaurant “Laurel” was outstanding and featured lovely outdoor seating as well. Cynthia, the desk employee, was very friendly and welcoming. Upon your arrival at 4:30 she served a famous Chicago cocktail, and provided the history behind it. She truly is a wonderful employee, and makes you feel so special. When we have any future travel to Chicago, we will most certainly stay at this beautiful and unique hotel.

Great location. Walkable to many shops and restaurants

Location is impossible to beat! Loved being able to get to so many favorite spots on foot. Staff was very kind.

I paid over $3k for 4 nights and our room was shockingly facing the alley way on the third floor with constant slamming of dumpsters at all hours with no natural light or view. I was so bummed about this as it kind of ruined the vibe inside the room! We also weren't able to get our rooms serviced the first two days due to short staff but we had 4 people in our double room and needed trash removed, more towels etc.

I just wanted to say what an unbelievable time and great experience Michelle Escobar made my stay at the Talbot. She went above and beyond to help me while staying at the hotel. The hotel overall was fantastic and I will definitely be back. What a great staff!!

This hotel is an absolute gem. So much detail and so much attention to detail. You feel like you've walked back in time and you're wrapped in absolute Chicago glamour. I loved every second of staying here and cannot wait to go back. In fact I cancelled another reservation for this fall and booked this hotel because this is truly the best hotel in Chicago and let me tell you why.... The staff. Taylor J and Cynthia are hands down the best customer service you will find in the city. So friendly, so welcoming and so hospitable. Thank you for helping create such a lovely stay for us. The ambiance. There is amazing attention to detail in this hotel. Take the time to slow down, look around and enjoy it. It's truly remarkable all the little details this hotel took the time to care for; you don't want to miss them. The Laurel. Excellent value for money and I see why there are reviews from locals who frequent this restaurant/bar. The staff is incredible and the food and drinks are excellent. (They are also quite generous with their food and beverage credit if you're a Platinum Marriott Bonvoy member.) The rooms. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and exceptionally clean. The linens on the bed are Matouk which I now absolutely have to have because they are wonderfully comfortable and an absolute dream to sleep on/in. There is a Nespresso machine in the room with the vertuo pods which is great because it's a bigger cup of coffee. (thank you!) There is an extra floor heater in the bathroom - I've never seen that before in a hotel and it will be so nice when we stay here this winter! The location. Cannot beat the location. The Talbott is in the most residential area we have stayed in Chicago. Lots of people out and about walking their dogs and it's just a block away from Washington Square Park. Loved the vibe of the area - it's a little slower and a little more authentic local Chicago. It also felt markedly safer which a truly appreciated. I have stayed at many hotels in Chicago and The Talbott is hands down my favorite. They get all the things right and pay attention to all the small details. It's like the Ritz Carlton has a fancy little sister and her name is Talbott. You get all the benefits you want from a 5 star hotel without all the fussiness of a 5 star hotel. Thank you all for such a wonderful trip; I truly cannot wait until this fall when we come back!

Fantastic location and hotel!

Excellent location and staff. Bad HVAC, plumbing, billing, and elevators. We stayed for three days. The first night, the air conditioner made a banging sound, as if something was loose inside the system. The first morning, I noticed brown water dripping from the light fixture in the bathroom. The front desk apologized and moved us to an upgraded room. I asked for a refund for the first night, and later in the day, the manager said he had removed the charges for the first night. Then, in the upgraded room, the toilet leaked a little bit onto the floor every time it was flushed. We did not complain because we didn't want to move again. We just let them know at checkout. Another issue was the elevators. It's an old building with just two elevators. From the beginning, the wait for an elevator, going up and down, was often long. On our second day, I was waiting in the lobby with others for such a long time, by the time the elevator got to us, it couldn't even fit everyone. A couple told me they were in the other elevator earlier in the day, and it fell while they were in it, so the other elevator was taken off line. They likened it to the free-fall ride in the Disney CA Adventure Park. Lastly, I noticed an extra charge of a few hundred dollars in the folio. (Good thing I checked it closely, as it easily could have been missed among all the taxes, destination fees, room charges, etc.) When I asked what it was, the guy at reception could not explain it. A couple of hours later, he said it was a mistake with the deposit; it should have been a credit. That is almost a $600 swing. When I got home, I went through the updated folio and my CC charges and credits, and it is still not right. The final credit back to my credit card is lower than it says on the folio.
