The Talbott, Autograph Collection

The room wasn't ready at the appropriate time. The check-in line was so very long and people weren't happy. Limited staff to take care of guests. Not enough cleaning staff since quite a large number of people were asked to wait for rooms to be ready and no clear answer as to when rooms would be ready. Room was basic (it had a view of the building mechanicals) and the toilet backed up (however, it was taken care of quickly). The restaurant staff and food were very good and the only bright spot at this hotel. All in all, meh. Too costly for what it is.

Chicago is my hometown however I do not currently live here. I have a few favorite hotels, but thought I would try the Talbott this time. I’m so glad I did. This hidden gem is on a quiet street but only two blocks from some of the best restaurants in the city. It’s like it is in its own little neighborhood. Walk two blocks west and there’s a beautiful little park for you to clear your head or walk your dog. Have a brand new fitness center on site however, if you want a full service club, they have a partnership with the FFC health club. This is about a four minute walk away is a top level health club with everything you want, including a recovery lounge, a swimming pool, all the weights you could ever lift. What a nice added benefit. Whole Foods is also two blocks away. The rooms are newly renovated and have that new room feel. Everything is as expected for a high level, boutique hotel On the first floor, there is a great little restaurant that is enjoyed by both guest, locals in the neighborhood and tourist. If the locals go, you know it’s good. It’s Mediterranean with a full service breakfast. Now we get to the important part. The staff. Taylor at the front desk made us feel welcome from the second we walked in. We were early and he made accommodations for the lost bags he’s likely ever seen from 2 guests Edgar in the restaurant provided outstanding service for every meal we ate at the Laurel restaurant. (Probably a total of 8 meals). One morning after he had already asked if I needed anything else, I requested some hot sauce. It was at a busy time and it really wasn’t that big of a deal so I didn’t ask again. The next day he came in and profusely apologized because he remembered when he was at home later that night that he had forgotten to give me the hot sauce. I assured him that it was no big deal and since I knew where it was, I could’ve stood up and walked the five steps to get it, but I really didn’t matter. Here’s a guy who’s thinking about his customers when he’s in bed at night and thinking about what he could do better. This is the kind of employee that every establishment dreams of having. Haines’s is housekeeping worked around our busy schedules and made sure she got our room back to tip top shape in the small window we had every day. Yes there’s a difference between having up ur room made up and having five star service like you are at the four seasons. All three is theses all star staff made our stay one we will remember. Thanks to these three and the hidden gem that is the Talbott

We loved our stay at The Talbott! The hotel exudes old-world charm, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. After a full day of sightseeing around Chicago, it was such a treat to return to complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the cozy study near the lobby. We would definitely stay here again!

It is in a good location

I paid for breakfast when I booked. The first morning I was told very rudely by a member of staff in the restaurant that I didn't have a voucher. I went to the reception. When I sat down a menu was put in front of me and I was told the 3 things I could order. From a long menu list. When I asked for an orange juice I was told ' you will have to pay for that.' So it is a very limited breakfast I paid for. I clearly got the budget menu. If I had known I wouldn't have bothered. Restaurant staff were horrible. Then the reception staff confused me with another guest ( from the Netherlands) and I am still trying to unravel my charges. Very unimpressed with the staff generally.

My partner and I were celebrating our birthdays together. Wanda & Gerardo were such a big help In helping to navigate our stay. They gave us a beautiful room & champagne. Thank you so much for making our birthday so fun at your hotel!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I have done it before and always found the experience to be relaxing and restive and invigorating. Spend a weekend, especially a holiday weekend, in a luxurious hotel in downtown Chicago, shop on the Magnificent Mile, see a show, go sight-seeing, take a boat tour and dine at some Michelin starred restaurants. Truth be told, we haven't spent a weekend in downtown hotel -- we live only 12 blocks from the Loop -- since the elegant Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel closed in 2011. So we were really looking forward to our three-day stay at the Talbott Hotel over the recent Memorial Day weekend. Located at 20 East Delaware Place, this 149-room upscale boutique hotel, with its Michelin Guide recognition, only steps from the Magnificent Mile, os fresh off a massive renovation at the hands of local designer Kara Mann and Joie de Vivre from the West Coast. Revitalized rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness room and a full-service, 100-seat restaurant are all part of the new look. Other amenities include 24-hour front desk, valet parking, free wi-fi, concierge, bar, 24-hour room service, library, laundry, business center, luggage storage, doctor on call, multi-lingual staff and available bikes. We reserved a 475-square-foot Premium King Room with a king-sized bed, living/sitting room, HDTV, mini-fridge, coffee/tea maker and safe.

Fantastic staff went above and beyond for us. Location is great (Stan's Donuts us 5 blocks away, DONT miss them!.

We were warmly welcomed by Michelle Escobar at the reception desk, and her gracious demeanor immediately set the tone for our stay. She was exceptionally courteous and professional, and thanks to her, we knew right away that we were in for a wonderful experience. Michelle truly made us feel valued from the moment we arrived!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel, and a big part of that was thanks to Ben at the front desk. From the moment I arrived, Ben went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcomed and comfortable. He was incredibly attentive and took the time to answer all of my questions with genuine care and professionalism. What really stood out was Ben’s deep knowledge of the local area—he gave fantastic recommendations for restaurants, attractions, and even helped map out the best walking routes. It’s clear he truly enjoys helping guests make the most of their visit. His warm hospitality and attention to detail made a lasting impression. Ben is a true asset to the hotel and played a key role in making my stay so enjoyable. I’ll definitely be returning, and I hope to see Ben again on my next visit!
