We stop every year on our way to the beach. We live the staff and accommodations and live the restaurant in front of the hotel… just steps away!!

Always a nice staff. Great restaurant right in front. Its a basic place. But its clean and quite.

I nearly hurt myself slipping on the floor in the middle of the night because the hotel's climate control was no match for the humidity. I had to lay down towels to keep from slipping.

I wish you had a zero. This property was disgusting. I have never stayed at a Choice Hotel and had such an awful experience. If I had of been able to get a refund, I would have cancelled the minute I drove into the parking lot. Marijuana use in parking lot and in the hotel was prevalent. The hotel smelled of marijuana and several of the overhead fire extinguishers were taped off with plastic. Bugs and dilapidated building. No breakfast and pool was drained. Outside of the facility was just as bad with grounds unkept.

Breakfast came in a paper bag. Cold sandwich. And snacks. Not appetizing. Room smelled mildewy. Place looks abandoned. Doors broken as you walk in. Landscaping terribly maintained. Spend a little more and go somewhere else.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to St Andrews for an event, but thanks to the US Open paid an exorbitant rate. So that does color my review, but I feel like for $275 a night I should be told in advance that breakfast would be served in a bag and that the pool wasn’t working. I’d definitely have chosen a competitor at a similar price point for better amenities. On the pro side, the staff was incredibly friendly and warm. I do not blame them for any of my frustrations as I think they are just doing the best they can with what they’ve been given, and they did seem to be working very hard. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. So the basics of what they could control were in place. On the cons list, breakfast itself is basically what school lunch breakfast might look like- a dole fruit cup with a sealed lid, a granola bar maybe (some bags had them, some didn’t), a mini yogurt, and the same Jimmy Dean sausage breakfast biscuit that you microwave in your room- every single day. This is what my daughter was given a few months back at this hotel too. It never changes. The sign says it’s a Covid thing but I suspect they saved so much money doing it that they decided to not go back. After my kids saw what breakfast was we all agreed to just go to starbucks instead, which was a bummer as the breakfast was one of the factors I’d considered in staying there versus another hotel. As of mid June, the pool was “not open yet.” At some point room service entered our room and all they did was take our towels. While I do not need or expect anyone to clean my room during a stay, that just seemed odd to me. We ended up asking the front desk for new towels, and they were super apologetic noting that towels were all in the dryer and brought some up, when they were done. It seems to me like this hotel is understaffed and I bet that’s the source of their issues. It was safe and well located which was important. But the little things were missing.

I had to book this hotel as a backup. I booked 2 hours before checkin. I got there checked in at 3:15, they told me my room was not ready for another half an hour. I asked them if there was any way to override that as I had a graduation to go to. She did some calls and found a room and told me it would be ready in 5 min. I went out to my car gathered my family and our belongings. We walked all the way to the room number wrote down and it was wide open and dirty. We then walked to the other room as perhaps I got the rooms mixed up. Nothing. We walked back down to the lobby as the manager was there and said that we were going to have to wait at least 30 minutes. In the middle of me and my husband trying to figure out what to do in this time crunch, the manager storms by us saying she will go help them clean the room herself to get it done. As we were told there were no more rooms and had no choice but to wait… we walked outside, spoke and he went back in. Not even gone for 5 minutes he comes back with a room key and says it was my attitude. Maybe it was our interracial relationship that bothered them.
