The Bodhi Tree Karimunjawa

I loved my stay here. Ali picked me up from the harbor and brought me to the hostel. The hostel has a very cozy and chill vibe. I hadn't had lunch so the staff prepared me something. The place is really clean and the dorm is ok. The shower outside the dorm has hot water. They organize trips around the island & Ali took us to the best local warungs for dinner. I want to thank the staff for helping me book my ferry ticket and making me feel like family!

The dorm doesn't really have a ventilation system but they try to air out the room by leaving the door open during the day.

This place is AMAZING, it's nice and clean, it has a proper breakfast included (cooked for you: pancakes, fried rice, eggs) and great location (close to harbour and night fish market). Also has some nice chill spots to meet new travelers, but the staff is on another level - you can see that they enjoy the work that they do. They will also help you with everything (tours, laundry, scooter, boat tickets etc.). Just book this Hostel and relax!

Staying in the dorm room at Bodhi Tree Hostel in Karimunjawa was pretty good, I was happy with it overall. The bed was nice, which made for a good night's sleep. They gave us clean towels, which was a plus. Just a heads up though, you gotta bring your own soap and other shower stuff. The AC worked great and kept the room nice and cool. The staff there were friendly, always happy to help. And the food they cooked was tasty! The only bummer was that the light on my bunk bed, number 1 (the one in front of the lockers), didn't work. Also, the power socket there wasn't working at all, which was a bit annoying. But apart from those little things, everything else was fine and just what I expected.

Good location close to night market, efficient laundry service, decent breakfast with free coffe, tea and water. Beautiful terrace.

The level of hygiene is very low, especially toilets where you are obligated to enter bare foot. Only cold shower. Untidy and dusty dormitory. The room is small and smelly cause without windows. Many mosquitos. In three nights I never slept well. Other guests were talking and watching video (with no headphone) at every hour in the dorms with zero respect for the others. There were an electric problem so especially the first night air conditioner doesn't work well and the room was very hot. If these things are partly forgivable, however, it is totally unacceptable how I found my bed the last night. It was full of rubble and remains of cut electrical wires, so whoever did the work thought that an animal was sleeping in that bed perhaps. I feel sorry for the staff, who are very kind but you deserve zero as a score. If these are the conditions, avoid hosting people please.

The staff was lovely and so helpful! The beds are comfortable and have curtains. Breakfast was delicious!!! And even if the hostel is offering tea and coffee it’s nice to have a coffee shop and a bakery (both worth a visit) next door ;)

For me everything was fine, but for the sake of completeness the room smelled a little chemical and the mosque is quite loud and starts at 4.30 am. Because of the other reviews I was prepared for this, so it didn’t take me by surprise :)

Warm welcome by the staff. Very well located. Cosy common spaces and very clean. Possible to rent scooters and join other activities such as snorkeling. If you want to stay close to the harbour and the center with restaurants, this is your place to be.

It's a good place to stay on budget in Karimunjawa, fri3ndly and helpful Staff, nice breakfast and access to kitchen.

The cleanliness could be Improved. The common area as well as the toilets where constantly in the condition as if they were cleaned a couple of days before even though i know they were cleaned every day. Omnipresent smell of cigaretes was disturbing. Some people smoke there, as it's a big open area, but I don't think the ashtrays are being emptied at all.
