Hilton Santa Monica Hotel & Suites

Ideal location near shops and dining. Our room was spacious for a family with two small kids. We left valuables in the safe and staff were amazing to contact us after we had checked out and stored our valuables until we returned to pick them up.

I stayed here for a work trip and while the hotel was very busy, it was so unbelievably quiet. I swear I didn't hear anyone in the rooms around me. The hotel restaurant was also very good and a great positive to staying here. The staff was super nice and friendly. It's also a 15 minute walk to the beach which I think is a benefit because it's not very touristy and makes it cleaner and more quiet.

The staff were very helpful. The room was clean and spacious. We stayed in a King Bed balcony Suite and a good size and comfortable. Good size bathroom and shower. Although the balcony was a waste of time. Very small and not even a chair. Good location and 10 minute walk to the beach and 10 minute walk to shops and restaurant. Pool was nice but gym could be better considering the size of the hotel. Very good hotel and felt safe

Spacious, clean lobby and efficient check in. We stayed in a well appointed 1 bedroom king suite with a small balcony (it is literally a small ledge you can stand on). The price for the room was on a par with the area, the bar was expectedly expensive (even during the happy hour) along with the Valet Parking at $55 +tax per night. Located a short walk from the beach and pier. The hotel is also very close to the I-10 and a straightforward drive from LAX. Didn't bother with breakfast at the hotel, the buffet was $28.95 and looked average, there are plenty of great breakfast spots a few blocks away.

Public transportation is always dicey in a town you are unfamiliar with, especially a large place like Los Angeles. The incidence of people-without-shelter and garbage is unbelievable; we felt like we were in a developing nation. So, picking a place to stay was difficult. We came in from a multi-leg trip from St. Paul, Minnesota to Los Angeles covering more than 3,000 miles for a bucket list trip through all the backwaters of the middle and Southwestern parts of the United States on Amtrak. Because of the convenience of the local rail system, we left Union Station in downtown Los Angeles and traversed it all the way out to Santa Monica; this hotel is just a block or two from the end of the rail line and a short walk to the Santa Monica Pier, the symbolic end of Historic Route 66. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, particularly on Ocean Avenue, a couple blocks to the west. We were allowed to check in a little early at 1:00 p.m. and immediately took a well deserved nap before wandering down to the Santa Monica Pier. If you are a tourist from another country, it's an awesome place to stay because you literally can take the train and be reasonably safe as long as you are in the daylight hours. The beds were clean and comfortable. The entire property is amazingly well kept and clean. Be sure to buy the breakfast package if you plan on eating breakfast there, it helps control your costs. For five days of travel, we spent $20 each on the mass transit tickets and did not need to use an Uber once. We saw, the Griffith Observatory (there is a shuttle from below which is covered in your transit pass), Beverley Hills and Rodeo Drive, The Hollywood Bowl, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Historic Theater District, the Santa Monica Pier, Warner Brothers Studios, and the Historic Union Station downtown. When departing, this hotel is located on the Number 3 bus line which goes to the LAX airport transit station for departure to all terminals; it costs $1.75US. It picks up at Fourth and Civic Center, diagonal across the intersection from the hotel. At the LAX station, you switch buses to your appropriate terminal. We would stay here again due to the cleanliness and convenience of the venue although we found the manager distant and unresponsive to a problem we encountered with our room.

Room and bathroom were nice and clean, however the aircon was outdated an very noisy, even when turned off. I spent the first night on the 2nd floor, it was unbearable but they were kind enough to change my room from the 2nd night. 5th floor was better but not noisless aircon. Breakfast was boring, tasteless and very-very simple. Coffee I had to pay extra for but it was still not good coffee. Overall an ok hotel but unfortunately not great.

We had a great experience, very convenient location, walkable, chain hotel that you can never go wrong, very clean, new, and staff nice.
