Delta Hotels by Marriott Jacksonville Deerwood

Don't want to get too into it but the non working electric charging station was a bit of a pain. With that note out of the way, 5 stars hands down for Ryan the fantastic bartender here at the lobby bar. He along with the atmosphere (and drinks!) he created made my trip. First time to Jax, only two nights and for work, solo. He made excellent recommendations to fit some of the things I already had planned.

I liked the updated amenities and the check in experience. Also the bathroom was very large and clean. Having a large roll-up vanity and super bright mirror and roll-in shower was really nice to have, especially when it comes to ADA compliance.

The bed was lacking any sort of bed bug cover, I don’t know if this was a sign of confidence on their part, but it made me feel skeptical. Also, the towels felt like sandpaper. I kind of expected more on that front, but I only had to use them once, so I can live. Finally there seemed to be a shortage of electrical outlets. My wife and I had to move our respective night stands in order to find a bedside outlet for our phones, otherwise, the nearest outlets to the bed was on the opposite side of the room.

Ryan is amazing. I travel to Jacksonville every couple of months and he always remembers my name and what I normally drink. He always checks though to make sure if that’s what I want that day in particular lol. His margaritas are absolutely delicious!

We came into town from Orlando late (and hungry) for a volleyball tournament. Ryan at the restaurant took great care of us and made us feel like we were at our home away from home. He also provided expedited service so we could get to bed and be up for our first 7am game. I had never stayed at a Delta before, but the hotel was clean and decorated beautifully. 10/10 experience!!

Had to pay for parking & paid for queen rooms… the beds were definitely not queen sized.

I stay here all the time every other week for work and the staff is amazing Ryan at the restaurant bar is top notch with impeccable service and people skills , also everyone at the front desk but I have to commend especially Ikiya she is on the customer service to a 5 star hotel experience

I have spent a lot of time at the Delta Deerwood in the last few months, and will continue to. Director of Sales Gretchen has been great to work with, everyone on the staff is so helpful, and the amenities fit our company’s needs quite well, especially the grill being open for breakfast and dinner and late into the evening (and Ryan the bartender is great!). See you again in two weeks!

Decent recognition of status and property had a Delta Pantry. Property is a modernized former Best Western. Food was not being refilled, in particular fruit, and the fridge was mostly empty. Coffee and some other snacks were fine. Gym was good. Wifi was cutting out at times. Breakfast was brutally slow. The voucher was for 2 but they push back if you try to get 2 meals even if you have 2 people. I waited 50 min (as did everyone) and then an extra 10 minutes because they forgot my order. I ended up missing part of my morning plans due to this. If they can’t have enough staff, at least offer grab and go options. The tap was loose in my room and the shower faucet seemed broken and temperature / flow kept fluctuating. I couldn’t get help from the front desk since no one was there. Housekeeping knocked on my room 3 times even though I told them I was still using it and it was well before checkout. Overall, avoid this hotel. It’s understaffed and there seems to be major training issues.
