I am a Bonvoy property loyalist, and have over 1400 nights. We always have a choice where we stay, and when in Phuket it’s always the Le Meriden Phuket Beach Resort. From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave the GM Julian’s entire staff are full of smiles and always ready to help. The private beach and renovated poll rival any property in Asia. "Worst check-in experience fora Bonvoy Elite Gold Member"

This is the first absolutely pathetic experience at a Bonvoy/Marriott property. We had booked this hotel for 5nights, for 3 people. One of them being a senior citizen (75+years). On reaching the hotel around 19.30, it took the reception around 10 minutes to see that they had a customer waiting to be served. After taking a note, the rude and absolutely unprofessional behaviour began. 1. They mentioned the booking is for 3 people and there will be a charge for the third person. On highlighting that the booking is made for "3" people - they refused to honour the booking. 2. Then they mentioned there would be another additional charge for the third person as their rooms are small and most of them do not accommodate 3 adults. (Why take the booking ????) Their front office staff was terribly rude - so we decided best is to avoid this property and mentioned them if they cannot honour the deal - then to cancel our stay, which they were so happy to do. I have never felt this humiliated on being a BonVoy Gold Elite member ( I am a gold member since past 11 years) and this is the first such incident. They took ages to process anything and made one person connect who kept just saying "Sorry" and I will go and ask the Manager. On asking why is the manager not coming out to speak with the customer - all they could say was "Sorry". They had zero regard to a senior citizen who was accompanying us. And when we left they did little to even help with the wheelchair. PATHETIC Luckily we had our own transport from the Airport so we could just get out of there. I would never ever go to this unpleasant and rude hotel again.
