"Secluded and pretty with a good dinner."

8.0

It is in a beautiful spot in the Judith Mountains. There’s a trail head right next to it.

We were up and out by 7am and had a full breakfast down in town as we didn’t want to wait for 7:30 continental breakfast.

"Beautiful rustic setting but Lodge itself did not measure up to the natural environment."

3.0

Don’t get my responses wrong here, in context… the property the lodge is on is probably one of the most beautiful nature settings I’ve seen since traveling in the back country of Alaska. The spring morning with soft sun, birds and wildlife abound.. it was breathtaking.

It’s advertised as a 6 mile drive on a gravel road, however it takes anywhere between 30-45 minutes to get there. I would suggest if anyone is going to the lodge for a vacation and does not have to do anything in town, the drive would not bother them but we had graduations, dinners and other family events to attend which made the back and forth from the lodge to town a huge issue for us. Also the drive would be best in an older clunkier type car as the gravel is pretty harsh on the paint job. Due to a family emergency, there was no staff on site when I first arrived at the lodge ~ 9:30pm. That wasn’t so much an issue for checking in but was a huge issue when I needed potable water. The office was closed, no one on site so I couldn’t buy bottled water.. I thought I could use the tap water and that… was a huge mistake. Obviously they have a water conditioning system that makes the water taste just down right nasty and I mean NASTY. That made the evening difficult and even more difficult was in the morning having to use that nasty water to try and make coffee. One cannot screw up the makings of the nectar of the gods.. coffee and water should be a given. The coffee had a salty taste that made me want to vomit. Breakfast was included in the price of the room rental but of course no one was there due to the family emergency which between the water-coffee- and no breakfast, this was a terrible way to start the day. Other things that I noted and would add here is there are inly 2-3 (maybe?) electrical outlets in the main bedroom space and one of the outlets socket was so loose/expanded that everything plugged into eventually came out. An extension cord or two would be helpful so that folks could charge their phone next to the bed as most folks do. I would also make a suggestion that the rooms get some level of sound proofing as you hear everything and I do mean everything. Such as anyone walking on the deck above/below or the floor you are on.

"Had a beautiful stay."

10.0

Peaceful isolation, and all the comforts of home.

Having the amenities closed when guests are booked. We stayed two nights 3days never saw a soul. Office closed ,bar closed, restraunt closed. I enjoyed the exclusivity but my husband wanted food available.

The food prepared for us, breakfast and dinner was delicious! The rib steak grilled for us was of excellent quality and the sides were delicious, and unexpected treat! Breakfast also was above what we expected! We are going to tell our friends!

"Very Good"

7.0

The breakfast girls were very friendly helpful. They were there in the night as well. The morning snow was awesome. They have a very good looking menu. Would like to go back and try the food. Wasn't aware they had food, just knew about breakfast, that was nice.

The weather was cold. It was nice and toasty in the bar/restaurant area. But when I arrived at my room it was barely 62 degrees. It was very cold. It takes HOURS to warm up a log cabin, high ceiling room with baste board electric heater. Would have been awesome to arrive in a nice warm room, after a long cold day.

"Can’t wait to return!"

9.0

The rooms were perfectly rustic for the lodge look and location. Everything was clean. The staff was amazing and the restaurant was good. Loved having a fire to sit near in the restaurant in the evening with the super cold temperatures outside. Overall, very cozy.
