Best Western Carlisle South

Excellent stay and very clean.

It was all good , except a fire door on left side of building, facing it. Was always being pushed open a little to let anybody in. Which means security was low. Right beside door,a sign said, KEEP FIRE DOOR CLOSED. but every time I went by it, it was pushed open a little bit. And I would slam it SHUT. I'm thinking, workers, letting someone in to swim or free room. Needs to be checked so door stay SHUT. Anyone stays here, and go by a fire door, shut it tight for more security.

Very neat, and courteous service. I'd stay again. Only thing that wasn't great was that linens, while very clean, felt more synthetic than natural.

I checked in, took all my bags to my room. IMMEDIATELY I noticed the room smelled awful, I looked past it and moved on. I then noticed the tub had grey sludge in it around the drain??? Once again....moved on. Finally I noticed my one night Stand was completely broken and replaced with a foot rest? At this point I called the front desk politely explaining the situation and requesting a new room..my room was changed to a room where the only improvement was I had two nightstands . The room still smelled awful and the shower was stained brown INCLUDING stains on the shower curtain. In addition to being wildly uncomfortable my entire stay given the condition of both rooms give ...my key stopped working half way through my trip so I had to walk through the rain to the front desk and get a replacement.

It has been recently updated and by that I mean they polished a turd, much like a lot of the other Best Westerns. I think it might just be a Pennsylvania thing though as the whole state is pretty outdated. Was everything functional, yes, and I think they mean well but it’s no Holiday inn. They all smell like curry.

Nothing really. It served its purpose but I would never stay there on my own dime.

The housekeeping is atrocious! Dirty floors, never cleaned the shower or sinks. Never made the bed nor changed sheets for a week. The room had an odd odor. I didn’t have breakfast because of fear of uncleanliness. There are machine parts and old air conditioners in the walkways. The family that runs the place I guess live there as well. So the hotel is more like a motel. We did get towels. Over priced for what you get.

He checked in late (10:15). Receptionist was on the couch and was interrupted. Checked in, she gave me 1 key, no instructions on parking. Turns out parking is 95% in the rear of the building. I gave the key to the family helped offload luggage then went to park the car. Drove around the building found a spot on the rear and discovered you need a key to enter. It’s about 50 feet from the reception I knocked but she wouldn’t come. I had to call my daughter to come and slip the key through the door crack to open the door from the outside otherwise it is a few hundred yards to walk around back to the front door. The room, mostly clean a few hairs in the bathroom but no shower curtain. I assume it was by design. There was a lot of water that soaked. We used a lot of towels trying g to dry the floors. Not a great place. But doable in a pinch.
