OYO Hotel Tyler Northwest Mineola Hwy

Loved it going to be here in Tyler a while so I am booking here till I leave

So we get there to check in for our reservation and they tell me it is 42, which of course, I already assumed it wasn't a GREAT hotel since it was rather CHEAP but hey, I didn't need a 5 * hotel. But THEN they tell me it will be 30 for a security deposit. I can pay cash and get it back when I check out or pay with my card and it will be 2 days.... so I have to walk to the gas station around the corner to use the 4 dollar atm because of course they don't have an atm there. It is on 30 dollars but THEY COULD HAVE TOLD ME IN ADVANCE and I would have had the extra money. Then the clerk tells me that if I use this promo code I will get 50 dollars off my next stay. I had already decided I would never stay again, but my son came in and i figured I'd get him his own room. So I let the desk clerk send me the code via email and text and it NEVER worked. He literally took 30 minutes trying to send it. Then he just wrote it down... we get to our room (after he couldn't even tell us where it was we had to drive around the parking lot until we found it), and I enter it in the app and it's only 11 dollars off! And we get in the room, of course it is HOT and smells like old hotel. It is clean and had been remodeled but just smelt old. The pool was right in front of our room but was filled in with grass. There was mold in the shower, no coffee pot, no iron, and no hair dryer (I don't need any of that though so it doesn't matter.) We have TWO towels in our room and I go ask for more, because there are 3 of us and we need towels for our body and hair. The guy tells me we will have to get them at 7 am. Well they NEVER get us towels. We had to share wet towels! AND they were not white they were stained and some kinda off white and brown and white. Our tv was tinted pink and was VERY small. We walk out our room to check out and realize our room window is cracked. (It was dark and we were tired we didn't realize it when we got there). I get to the front to check out and it takes her 15 minutes to find my name on the deposit book to give me my money back! Will NEVER stay and don't recommend unless you don't mind all these issues for a cheap hotel. I would give it a 1 but I expected a little bit of "wtf" since it was so cheap, just not ALL of what we got.

Can’t even get the door to open. Either the room is already occupied or locked from the inside. Been down to the clerk, he did nothing. I want my money back. Long way from the Best Western this place used to be.

If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. This property was beyond disgusting! I'm a very humble person and am usually looking for something inexpensive and clean to pass through. However, after my recent experience, I will be spending those few extra dollars to go to a cleaner, better maintained place. Upon entering the lobby, it was hot, humid, and smelled. Upon finding my room, I took notice that the property was not maintained or updated. The grass was dead, the paint was chipping off the rails of the stairs, the stucco of the building was filthy, and instead of properly replacing stairs, they used wood that was thinner than the original step, therefore a huge fall risk. As I entered my room, it smelled strongly of moth balls. The bedspreads on both beds had holes in them; the pillows were so dirty that the covers were yellow as if they were tea-stained. There was leftover ketchup packets from Whataburger and other containers. The bathroom didn't have even a bar of soap. The towels had hand prints on them. The tile in the bathroom was coming up; the bathtub had rings around it. Overall, this was disgusting. I gave the place the benefit of the doubt, so I went downstairs to complain and asked to be moved. The lady at the front desk didn't even apologize for the appearance of the room. She simply moved me to a room three doors down. While that one was a little better, it was still evident that the room had not been cleaned. The towels and bed linens were just as dirty as the first room. I will not be returning to this place. I was being modest but I will never make that mistake again. Saving a few bucks just isn't worth the feeling of disgust. There are so many better places to stay in the area!

It was a totally renovated nice classy room- wow---had total kitchen package-clean new nice-not noisey--friendly staff-great coffee-ice machine-parking right at my room-also trash contained at every hallway-

Not gonna lie, its an old motel but its well maintained. I've stayed twice. Both rooms had new beds, furniture, carpet, granite and paint. The parking areas are very well lit cause its not in the best area of town. The staff needs to work on their English but very friendly and accommodating. They do need do not disturb hangers and could use some clocks in the room but if you're gonna stay at a Motel 6 in the area, its the one to stay at.
