Inn at the Gorge

A little bit quirky and 100% charming. Michael and his staff were friendly, welcoming, and made us feel like we were guests in their home. The room was comfy, the large wrap around porch was a super place to hang. And the breakfasts were excellent! Fresh local ingredients with special twists like a frittata with cherries, gorganzola and chorizo. We loved it there.

A perfect location with perfect hosts! We had an amazing time at the INN. The breakfast in the morning were outstanding! Would highly recommend!! Room very comfortable and well stocked. Fresh baked goodies daily.. Yum

The room I was in was to cold. No thermostat and no one to ask. Could not find an extra blanket in the closet.

Staff were extremely helpful. Room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing!

It is a great place but if I am being very critical here are some comments. The view from our room was the parking lot. The lights were bright in the windows all night but the drapes did help. If you are walking, the inn is up a steep hill from the town where all the restaurants are.

For breakfast, the parfait & crepes were truly outstanding - flavorful with great textures. The staff & other guests were fun to talk to, and there was a welcoming atmosphere. I enjoyed reading & conversing on the front deck. My wife and I mostly walked to our destinations, and we enjoyed the proximity to downtown.

The omelette & frittata were fine, but not excellent. Our bed was also a bit less comfortable than I had hoped.

the location and the very good staff. Michael the owner cooked a fantastic breakfast for us with everything you could want, all included in price. he also recommended things to do while we were in Hood river.

it was mostly good, but if you’re not used to B+B vacations some people might not like how close you are to other guests. ie: not much privacy. However it didn’t spoil it for us.

The Inn at the Gorge is a picture postcard come to life. Starting with hosts Michael and Jonathon, the accommodations are comfortable, the breakfast prepared to individual preferences, the ambiance over the top and an experience that will woo you back soon.

On both mornings I had the unpleasant experience of listening to the owner/cook Michael loudly berating or bullying his staff in the kitchen before breakfast. The kitchen is right off the dining area. The first time I heard him calling another staff member who worked the previous day the "R" word because they had not met his expectations. The second time he was bullying the employee working that day, and who was apparently new on the job, for the same. The other guests in the dining room heard it too and we all looked at one another with sadness for the employee because we knew that he knew we all heard the tirade and could tell that he was embarrassed when he came back out into the dining room. If the owner has a problem with the performance of an employee then he should wait until the guests are finished with breakfast and have departed or gone off for the day and have a meeting with the employee to discuss what they did wrong AND what they did right. I had a boss in my youth who treated their employees the same way and it was a miserable experience that I still remember decades later.

The building was so cute, the host was very accommodating and friendly, and the breakfast he fixed for us was delicious. Great place to call home for a weekend.
