Aeria Tohno

毎年年に一度は遠野に帰省しますが、今回はコロナ禍で市内の親戚宅ではなくこちらのホテルに宿泊しました。 "民話のふるさと遠野"の語り部が聞けて、皇室の方も宿泊したホテルとあり以前より興味がありました。 温泉ではありませんが大浴場も魅力の一つで、遠赤効果のある石が敷かれ広くてのんびりと…お陰で徹夜で運転した疲れが吹っ飛びました。 小さい頃にお婆ちゃんに聞かされた"むが〜すあったずもな"も朧げな記憶ですが、なんと語り部はお爺ちゃんでした。方言のわからない娘達にもわかり易く、情緒たっぷりでほっこりしました(*^^*) 男性の語り部さんもいらっしゃるのですね。とっても良かったです。 夕食の予約が、コロナの為早めに締め切られており諦めていたところ、ご好意で南部御膳を頂く事が出来ました。温かく手の込んだ懐石膳とボリューム満点のお子様膳はオススメです。お子様膳のスープがとっても美味しくていちばんのお気に入りです。(子どもじゃないのに頂きました 笑) 遠野で駐車場が有料？というのが素朴な疑問でしたが、何らかの形で宿泊料に組み込んで頂けるとイメージアップになると思います。 朝食も品の良い盛り付けと、遠野の郷土の温かさを感じさせる品揃えでした。 濃厚ヨーグルトも最高でした。 次回は、朝食のドリンクに牛乳と地元のトマトジュースの追加を期待します。 残念ながら今年は遠野まつりは中止でしたが、9月の第3土日の遠野まつりと５月のGWには遠野さくらまつりがあります。ホテルに居ながらおまつり見物や博物館もすぐ隣です。鍋倉城址や遠野むかし話村、新しく出来たこども本の森も徒歩10分圏内です。 こんな遠野にどうぞ皆さん、是非"おでてくなんせぇ〜"

遠野駅から近く、徒歩観光に使いやすい。部屋はゆったりしていて快適に過ごせました。大浴場が夜のみ利用可能だったことは残念でした。

施設の老朽化を感じました。トイレの水栓システムが上手く動かず、水が流れたままになる時がありました。駐車場は、５００円ですが、払いました。

部屋は一般的なビジネスホテルのような感じで普通だが、夜出る時に近隣のお店のおすすめを詳細に教えていただき、地元ならではの情報が聞けたのが良かった。そういうのはガイドブックではわからない。紹介していただいたお店にも大満足だったのでなお良い。会計時、予約内容が誤っていて帰宅後もやりとりすることになったが、対応も丁寧で迅速だったので嫌な気持ちにならなかった。

コロナ対策で、朝のバイキングは和食定食に、大浴場は使用不可でした。 しかし、徹底したコロナ対策がとられていて、逆に安心です。 フロントでは、ボールペンまできちんと消毒されていて好感が持てました。 遠野という場所にもう一度来たくなる宿です。

駅から徒歩5分ほど。すぐ隣に市立博物館がある。館内のレストランの朝食も充実。とても良い。

With a single room priced at less than $100 I was worried. Didn’t need to be. On par with Metropolitan hotels in bigger cities. Ample Japanese breakfast included. No onsen. Room windows open a bit for fresh air. Clean. Quiet. Big lobby. 5 min flat walk to end of main street that starts at station. Didn’t try restaurant. Went looking for local color and found it at Den. Good local spot run by mother and daughter who keep the place ( 10 or so counter seats) and a couple tables lively. See review. Good bike ride to Futurosa village but take cycle path instead of street.

The hotel is a bit far from the train station by walking. It is probably one of the best hotel in a quite town. The hotel location is close to several tourist attractions, such as museums, library. The rooms has larger spaces than those in a big city. Generally, the rooms decoration is just about typical japanese styles. The rooms facilities are average. The good part is that the hotel has a large public hot bath rooms. The breakfast is delicious. The staff is also helpful, though it's quite difficult to communicate in English.

We drove into the city of Tohno without having any reservation for accommodation. Not knowing anything about the geography of the city, we were driving towards a small hill where we found this hotel. It was conveniently located to the city museum (right next door) and a few other well-known destinations in Tohno. So, we walked to the reception and asked for a room. At JPY19,014 for two with breakfast, it is relatively expensive for the region and for booking without middleman. Parking within the building was an extra of JPY500. The region of Tohno is filled with many interesting folktales, but that doesn’t mean it has nice views. It doesn't. From our room, the city view towards JR Tohno Station was boring. The room was okay. A unique attraction of the hotel is a session by “kataribé” or storytellers in the evening (every day at 6:00 p.m.) for the hotel guests. For about 30 minutes, two or three local “kataribé” come to a small hall and present several stories passed down for generations by the people of Tohno. After all, Tohno is probably best known for the “Tohno Monogatari” or The Legends of Tono. Most “kataribé” are women, but on the day we stayed, we had both female and male “kataribé.”

The service we received was great, very polite staff even if they cannot communicate in the same language. Some of the staff there speaks English as well as Japanese. The rooms are well kept and the room comes with a kimono as well. Very fine stay in a great town.
