Rodeway Inn Escondido Downtown

Good location.

Sheets and comforter had cigarette burns. Shower curtain was torn all over and the shower looked dirty. Walked barefoot a little bit and our feet ended up super dirty from the dirty floors. We asked for housekeeping to change out our towels and sheets for our second night and they didn’t change them out. We ended up not using the second night because the place was just so dirty it wasn’t worth staying. I will never stay here again. Nor would I recommend it. I was charged by booking.com and by the hotel and they refused to refund me. Waiting for the long weekend to end to see if I will get a refund or if I need to dispute the charge.

One significant complaint and a few minor ones. There was no security latch (or chain) on the door. There was evidence that there was one in the past so why didn’t they replace it? Minor issues: the window had wooden shutters with a connecting rod to angle them shut all at once. That rod was broken on one of the windows, so I had to move each vane shut individually. The front door did not have an automatic door closer and it was difficult to shut the door without slamming it. The one chair in the room was so worn out that you wouldn’t want to sit on it. Parts of the top of the shower curtain were torn but that had no negative effect on my ability to shower. Now for the good things: the complementary breakfast was quite good. Boiled eggs, two kinds of cereal, a variety of yogurt, coffee, tea, instant oatmeal, orange juice, milk, and a variety of sweet pastries and fruit. No table to eat at unless you go outside. The hot water was nearly instant. The bed was quite comfortable. There is a mini fridge and microwave but I used neither. The TV is good sized and had a bunch of cable channels. One last negative: no clock in the room

Very dingy spot. Homeless/wanderers constantly walking in and out of the lot. Holes in walls, stucco/bad cover up jobs all over the place. Although I didn’t see any roaches I feel like they were there. There was no hot water.

Horrible amount of NOISE!! Neighbors started screaming. They weren't angry at each other..they just screamed! For hours! And played music really, really loud! I finally could not stand it and pounded on the wall for them to please stop! Also, no closet and clothes hangers, but that was nothing compared to the screaming.

This is more suitable for a low income, long term stay than an overnight bussiness stop. You get what you are paying for here.

This day wasn't bad except they tried to make us stay an extra day to get our clothes out and they kicked us out of the room before the actual check out time was which was 11:00 they're trying to get us out by 10:00 they're not $20 off our deposit which I was okay with that and that's why I gave him a better meeting the only drawback was that they tried to kick us out early

We stayed here for a concert at Harrah’s. Nice easy drive back and forth. Walking distance to a local brewery next door and kewl eats around. Staff was excellent. Place was clean and they’re still upgrading and renovating the place. Will definitely be back whenever we are in Escondido or nearby for events. Awesome place if you’re a tourist to San Diego but don’t want to pay the premium prices in San Diego. The only drawback is no pool/hot tubs, but who cares about that October through April?!

It was an overall nice stay for and good price for what we needed it for. And had a few pastries for the morning when we checked out.
