"Great addition to a father and sonsโ€™ weekend fishing trip"

10.0

Spent 2 nights here with my adult sons going to and returning from a fishing expedition at Aitkens Lake. Friendly, professional staff and an excellent suite on the executive floor that included access to a very comfortable lounge with great coffee and snacks. The shuttle service to and from the airport was also a convenient touch. A great start and finish to a father and sonsโ€™ weekend fishing adventure!

"Unsafe and Dirty Diamond"

2.0

This has to be the worst Hilton property in Canada. This hotel should not even be able to call itself a Hilton, it is so far off the standard. I have stayed here for nearly 30 years and have unfortunately been here over 100 nights this year. - it's unsafe you will see the police here almost daily. - management wants the easy money so caters to displaced individuals. Meaning you will be approached, and harassed if you leave your room. - management's solution is to have numerous rental security personnel wearing high visibility vests roaming the hallways. These same security people will run away from residents who are fighting or accosting clients. Two weeks ago I broke up a fight in the lobby while security ran away, I had to yell for help and the police. The officers responding asking me why would I stay here as they view this as a high call location. -the actual rooms are never upgraded nor maintained. -mattresses are from a decade plus ago, never changed nor rotated so you sleep in depression left by others. -pillows never replaced, thread bare so you need 3 to equal the depth of a normal pillow. - new TV system gives you about 5 usable channels none of which the average person would want to watch but you could go to the restaurant to watch CNN. Management obviously doesn't care and have enrolled in the cheapest package offered. - don't use the iron provided unless you want to ruin your clothes. Water system in hotel frequently will run rust so water looks brown and the iron will spray this on your clothes. Hotel will replace the iron after you complain but will not proactively replace since management doesn't want to spend money. - iron board are the same ones from 30 years ago so you may cut yourself on the broken wires, the management has never changed the iron board covers that are so wrinkled that you need to put a towel on top to iron. - boilers were changed about 2 years ago and since then the water pressure is so low that you can barely get wet in the shower, that's assuming you were able to hold the water valve up long enough for the shower to start. Yes the rooms have 1970 tub shower plumbing! -ventilation system is messed up so bad that each floor now has some exhaust fan by the elevator that sounds like a jet engine. - meanwhile they have absolutely zero humidity in the hotel since this change, so be prepared for nose bleeds. They used to have humidifiers that you could get but management got rid of them no doubt because of the cost. - no windows open. - fridges in the rooms went from having a small freezer to now being a ultra cheap brand with no freezer and either don't work or freezer every thing, no temperature control. I have had at least 4 replacement fridges this year and now have given up on buying perishable food because of non working fridges. - bedside reading lights, again management buys the cheapest non dimmible bulbs so the light either doesn't work or cycles on off. - management realizing that they have a security issue decided to lock stairwell doors so your key will only open your floor, and the first floor. So if you're evacuating through the stairs you'll only be able to exit on the ground floor or your floor assuming that the locks are operational. Don't know how safe this is and doesn't align with what I have seen in other hotels. - the only food worthwhile is maybe breakfast. Menu hasn't been updated for ever price point is at least 80% on average more expensive than say the Sandman signature restaurant a block away. - if you want breakfast on the weekend before a flight or day event realize that management thinks people should sleep in on the weekends so the restaurant will not open until 7 am, but the management calls this an airport hotel! Lack of understanding clientele is astounding. - speaking of clients if you are a Diamond or lifetime Diamond Member then definitely stay away because any status means nothing here. You can say book a room on the 6th floor, confirm the room days prior and will always be at the mercy of the front desk at check in, where they will say no room on the 6th. - don't even think about trying to get one of 8 balcony rooms! Management and or front desk reserve these for special clients, probably friends and family or people who they want to lock into contracts. Only Hilton that doesn't show you all the hotel rooms! -this management has gone out of its way to get contracts with organizations such as the red cross and indigenous groups because it's easy money obviously, they jumped at the opportunity to become a covid isolation because of the easy government money; even though they didn't disclose to their other clients, the Ukraine refugees were another source of government money this management embraced. All of this easy money has made this hotel into a hostel for the needy it is no longer a brand hotel and management runs it like a hostel! - this isn't a check on those in need because they have no choice in the matter, but those people that continue to stay here as a hotel need to be treated as if they are actually in a hotel and not as now, a inconvenience to management's main income stream of displaced people. - this hotel has gone out of its way to make any stay uncomfortable and actively promotes anti homeless efforts, there used to be seating areas in the front now gone, inside the lobby they removed minimized the seating area. - cleanliness- this hotel is absolutely filthy! The staff could clean 24 hours a day and it would still be a mess. It's not the staffs fault but rather the clients here And the fact that management refuses to spend money on maintenance. -this management has created such a toxic environment that I see legacy staff leaving. - management must either pay so little or reduce the hours of work so much that staff either work multiple jobs, or split jobs in-house to get enough hours. -the way this management treats it's staff is disgusting. -the management prints cards for the staff to give to clients to go to trip advisor to give feedback. No doubt management gains by visibility on the site, probably helps with the hotel rating, but in the end it's just another exploitation of the staff probably since if an employee gets a lot of referrals they give the staff a chocolate bar. -I strongly suspect that many of these trip advisor reviews are not done by actual clients and I have submitted a review before and never seen it here so I suspect that there may be nefarious things in play. -this is not the hotel to stay at if you want a clean safe stay. This hotel is so far away from the Hilton standard that it should immediately lose its branding.

It was a nightmare. I visited Winnipeg with my 14 year old son. So many bush people in the hotel. I felt harassed everytime with my son coz the bush people where outside either begging for drugs or cigerates. It was the worst experience I ever had and these people will do something stupid to set the firealarm on. We had 3 firealarms in 1 week. One was at midnight, second at 05:45 AM and the 3rd at 05:00PM. I won't advice anyone to go through what I saw and went through. Very bad and dangerous.
