Comfort Inn Sioux City South

I’ve stayed here for 4 years in a row and the decline of this property in the last year is huge. Carpet in halls and lobby was very dirty, loose, and torn. There was maintenance and other stuff laying all around, the parking lot was filled with litter. Not planning on staying here again!

The facility was under construction. The halls were cluttered with dirty materials. The entire place was filthy.

Let's start with the positives: staff was friendly. Our room was clean, bathroom substantial size, lots of towels. Nice tv, bed was comfy, as were the pillows. The window shade didn't let in unwanted light, and the room was quiet. There was water and a bowl of fruit near the front desk. Breakfast was standard fare. Negative: halls were being painted, the dated carpet was littered with chipped paint, we had to navigate an obstacle course of paint cans, ladders, and workmen to get to get to our room. The bathroom exhaust fan was on same switch as the light, and was extremely loud. Toilet handle had to be jiggled to stop it from running. Since I hot a good night's sleep, I'd say overall it was not bad.

Staff was nice but when I asked before booking if there was anything going on that would hinder our stay I was told no. I arrive and it’s under demo and not normal demo but things all over the stair case the hallway and people who were working there and living there drinking and hanging out in The hallway. My son was horrified and scared to go anywhere in the hotel alone. The room was clean but the tub was not… jets do not work and water barely operated in sink. Staff was yet again super nice though but there should be a notification about the hazards and if not that atleast have the crew cleaning up regularly if you’re expecting people to continue paying over 100 a night to stay there. Also, NO elevator! There was a woman with a walker I get so bad for!

Hotel is under major construction so is dirty and messy in the common areas.

Hotel was clean and quiet. Not much of a breakfast but it was still satisfactory.

Scrambled eggs for breakfast with hot sauce available and half and half vs chemical creamers. The pillows were very comfortable.

The bathroom sink wasn't draining, so we had to stop and let the water run out while brushing our teeth and washing our faces. We're retired, so breakfast ending at 9 wasn't very accommodating for us. The biggest hurdle was no elevator. I should have asked for a bottom floor room, but we avoid the first floor rooms almost always. We are going to be traveling for a week, so had lots to bring inside. Hallway carpets had raised wrinkles in them, so trip hazards. It looked dated, but that's probably why it was the price it was. I doubt we'll be back again. It was the 2nd time we'd stayed there.
