Araliya OceanFront Condos Nilaveli, Trincomalee

The location was next to a centre where you can arrange snorkelling to see sea turtles. There were a few restaurants nearby. The property is right on the seafront. It was mentioned bikinis weren’t allowed which isn’t quite the case, no skimpy western style are allowed but two pieces are fine. I’m not sure if this is a Sri Lankan thing but the area is in a fairly Muslim area so perhaps that is why. I was having issue with WiFi and they came to help me fairly quickly

You have to order breakfast on the menu the day before The place wasn’t dirty as such but things like the walls and cushions were a bit dirty. The linen and towels were clean.

The location was excellent, right on the beach. Restaurants walking distance. The best part was the cleaning of the apartments, so nice!!

Lovely open plan living area with AC, fans and clean bathrooms. Balcony view to the beach and pool. Comfy beds and pillows. Delivered food to the room and in the rain too.

Pool closed too early. No tea towel in the kitchen. No coat hangers in the cupboard.

Absolutely loved the location ! Not many units were occupied while we were there, so it was very quiet. The beach is clean and the sea was calm, with very clear water. The condo is well equipped, but there was no shop in the community for groceries. Drinking water was provided in the unit. We had one of our best meals at Moon Isle Bungalow, a few meters down the beach. Not many options open in the off season, but we lucked out ! The host, Priyanga, was always responsive and helpful. Unfortunately, we had only a day and a half at the property, but would have loved to stay there for a week, at least, and explore the area.

The nearest shops stocking groceries, ice, eggs, bread, etc., are about 3-5 kms away from the Condos, towards Trincomalee. Not too far though, if you have a vehicle. The little restaurant on the premises had limited items available from the menu and last order was by 7pm. So carry what you need before reaching there and enjoy a lovely stay !

It was fantastic. We were staying in a room that look up to the sea but I think every condo has a part that looks upto the sea. So, shouldn't be a problem for travelers to think about which room they'd get. The condo where we were staying had almost everything that one needs for a daily household thing, including functional kitchen (you have to get your commodities though). There were also books and CDs and TV to spend time inside the condo (and not just using it for sleeping and bathing). This is quite essential if you are staying for a slightly longer duration than just couple of days as the temperature outside is not so friendly, humidity is really high and going out in the sun becomes really challenging. Looking at the sea from the living room itself makes you feel so cool (temperature) from inside your body that you won't like to go outside during the noon time.

The restaurant/food service is slow. Likely because they weren't expecting so many people to arrive at the same time. The property was full, for the first time after covid.

We arrived quite late and the staff were very accommodating and ready to welcome us. The apartment has a view of the Nilaveli beach and a cute balcony. The beach outside is beautiful and suitable for swimming. There's also a shared pool. There are 3 bedrooms in the apartment and two toilets (one in the master bedroom and one outside). We didn't have any meals here, however, if you wish there is a restaurant in the next apartment complex to order meals, I would suggest ordering at least an hour in advance. There are plenty of restaurants around Nilaveli and Trincomalee town if you have a vehicle.

The air conditioning in one of the rooms wasn't working. We contacted maintenance who said it cannot be repaired immediately and that the owners had been informed. We were not informed of this before our stay or we would've chosen a different place. The fridge also had quite a bad odour. We also had to ask for new toilet tissue rolls as they had left used ones in the apartment.
