The Hotel at Falcon lake

The cabin and especially the deck were very nice. Still some renovations needed. No TV, and wifi was intermittent.

The Hotel at Falcon Lake is amazing! Our room was beautifully decorated, roomy and comfortable. We didn't get a chance to use the fireplace but it would be perfect in the winter after skiing or snowmobiling. We ate at both on-site restaurants -- Black Bear Tavern (?), and 1964 and loved the food and service at both. The Backyard -- a fenced in play area for adults and kids was unexpected and a lot of fun. Falcon Lake beach is a very short walk away-- so that was a plus as well. Hoping to get other family members to join us next time. Forgot to mention the pool and water slide -- we didn't use it but it looked really clean and and fun!

This hotel is a vacation type of hotel, not so much a lay your head for a night hotel, which I was not familiar with when booking our reservation as we’re travelling from Ontario to Alberta for a big move. Because of the move, things in the days prior to arriving were not in our favour and so our timing to play catch up looked like 14 hr drive days. GPS put us arriving at arriving past 12 midnight, which is when the hotel is no longer staffed for check ins. I called the hotel and explained the situation and it did not seem to be in our favour other than calling when we got close to see if someone could stay past 12 and wait on our arrival with no confirmation. We had no option to cancel without paying 100% of our room. I reached out to Expedia in a desperate attempt to help cancel or have something work. Our Expedia CSR was fantastic and reached out to the hotel for us and advocated about our situation and they offered for an employee to stay until 1AM to check us in. We arrived at 12:40 AM and were greeted by a lovely person who was amazing with the check in process and made it easy and got us on our way to our room. The room was on the main floor down a locked hallway, which when travelling with a dog is especially nice to not have additional foot traffic in the hallways. The beds were comfortable, the room was a fair size and the room was cozy. The room was clean overall. We ordered from the in hotel restaurant for breakfast and it was delicious.

This was a provincial park hotel with lots of amenities and areas to enjoy. We were there just the one night and staff was friendly very helpful.

The “Backyard” is awesome and the Big Bear Tavern has good food, live entertainment, big screen tvs, pool table and slot machines to keep everyone entertained. The check in and bar staff are exceptional. Really appreciated how our ’fur baby’ was taken care of too - loved the basket of toys. Thank you Would definitely stay here again.

The sauna door had broken hinges, broken water bucket and spoon, the steam room was out of order, the hot tubs were unavailable and shingles on the ground outside our room, food quality has changed. I was optimistic but won't book again next year.

Rooms not ready by 4pm advertised check in time. Nothing offered for compensation. Showed up at 3:50 to check in. They advised it would be at least an hour before the room was ready. I asked if they could call me when it was. No call by 6:30 and I went back and it turned out to be ready. Received a call an hour after I had checked in advising our room was ready. Terrible check in experience. Was not the only guest that was told their room wasn’t ready either. Sheets were clean. Beds were very comfortable. were fairly clean. Floor/Bathroom/Shower were not as clean. The steam room wasn’t working. The sauna didn’t get warmer than 40 degrees. The pool deck was filthy including the steps to the water slide.
